So I was lucky enough to get the 'Low Fuel' alert yesterday ... On my way to the gas station.. LOL!
OK, so I knew I needed gas ... But I couldn't get the 'alarm' to go away, no matter how many buttons I pushed. I was way more interested in seeing the speedo reading, other than the 'countdown' reading, like I was headed towards disaster.
Is there something I'm missing about reverting to my normal screen, or is it just a 'Is What It Is' thing?
As an aside ... Aren't these 'bone-dry' 20 gallon tanks? (I may be wrong) ... but after filling up, with the warning of '10 miles left' ... It took 18.4 gallons to fill up.

This button. I believe that button to clear the warning is shown in the warning.

It looks like most do, but the refuel warning might not.

Could be a requirement like permanent DRLs?

One less sensor here is good in my book.

Perhaps one of my biggest annoyances of this truck. DTE should be a literal term, not "distance to there is actually 2 more gallons in there."

I understand it is probably by design to prevent running out of fuel; however, I'd like a menu option for "I'm not a baby, tell me how much fuel is REALLY left." That would be much more helpful, personally.

I could totally agree with that, but I think they're just covering the masses.

For me, I always reset my trip meter when refilling and know my typical range. If I'm doing something out of the norm, I know that my MPGs are reporting within 0.2mpg, so a quick calc gives me the info that I need. I'm just not a fan of visiting the gas station more often than needed.

Yep, I do the same thing. When in doubt, divide miles traveled by tank MPG = gals used.

Required by law. Remote parts of the country you could die if your window can’t be cleaned and there is nowhere to buy it. You get fair warning to top up.

Could someone tell me when the low fuel warning is supposed to turn on? I’ve had the truck since new and driven down to less than 20 miles and never got a low fuel warning.

I used the have the same thing in my 3rd gen 4Runner (It was almost 4 gallons) and was always told that those extra few gallons help keep the pump submerged in gas and cool

The pump is in a cup with fuel, but more importantly, most all common EFI pumps are a flow through design. Fuel is picked up on the bottom and pumped out the top. Zero heating issues.

It is also there to protect the fuel pump from overheating.

Winter you need washer fluid to clear your windshield. Probably why.....you run out it can ruin your day when you cant clear the salt off your windshield. We dont have TPMS required tho.....so my 19 SR5 doesn't have sensors for that.

I have had the low fuel light come on the screen a few times usually about 25 miles before the screen says zero, but l don't remember any alarms.

My light comes on a few miles before the message pops up. Something like 20 miles "left" for the light and 15 for the message.
