The adjustability would be nice since I plan on running a 7100 at first because the custom shocks that I want or three month leadtime Cause they would be a nice budget shock then down the road I could adjust for 2.5’s when I get my shocks in

How crazy are you going with custom shocks? You should be able to unbolt and adjust the axle end to adjust for the new compresses/extended length of your custom shocks. On the top side, anything with a 1/2"x1.5" mounting bolt will work.

And if you get the measurement for the width of the 7100 eyelet I can cut you the right spacer to make it work.

That would be dope about the 7100's. I figured id run a cheaper shock until i could scrape up the money to buy the ones i want since ive already got radflo extended fronts.

Use Prothane 19-919 for the shock mounts instead of the standard Bilstein 7100 bearings and you won't need a custom spacer

Close. According to Prothane they are 1.620 so they may have to be shaved down a bit. It's the best option out there though for getting rid of the noisy Bilstein bearing.

Easy enough to do with an angle grinder.

Pushed the truck to the limits yesterday at Hidden Falls. Loving the new setup so far, still need a new leaf pack.

Question regarding installation of the shock hoop.

I've been trying to see how others have setup their rear suspension using this. I've notice differences in placement of the shock hoop which affects the angle of how the shock is mounted.

I've seen some where the shock is almost vertical. And some where the shock is angled ~10 degrees or so. I can picture the rear suspension articulating, etc....

My brain tells me i should try to get the shock as vertical (non-angular) as possible with the axle tabs oriented towards the front of the truck. I understand the rear suspension isn't just an up/down motion during compression/rebound and more of a curve...

But in the end.....does it really matter? Hoping some of you more knowledgeable with Tacoma suspension geometry can help educate me. Thanks!

As long as the shock angle isn't too extreme (15 deg or so) and the shock doesn't hit anything (frame, shock hoop, tire) it doesn't really mater.

If the shock angle is extreme valving becomes an issue, because of the difference in horizontal vs vertical displacement for each inch of travel at different points on the suspension travel. This is solvable, but requires more mastery than I have.

Crashing the shock into something is bad for obvious reasons :)

Just make it as vertical as possible while keeping shock mounts fully on frame and problem solved lol

I love simple answers! Mount it as vertical as possible while keeping hoops/circular mount plate on frame.! (Will do!).

    Thanks guys!
