I love my quicksand taco. I would give it up in a hot second, for any color, if the replacement came with a machine gun mounted in the bed.

So, I haven't been on a bike seriously, in YEARS. OK, decades. I used to ride in the mid 90s, 200 mile weeks. I was still heavy for my frame, but it was a big frame (legitimately, I am "big boned"). A shadow of my ass would still weigh 30 pounds, but I could hammer (as much as doing so on the road in flat Charleston, SC will allow you to).

Flash forward 25 years. I'm old, fat, out of shape. T2D (barely), high blood pressure. I'm big boned AND fat.

Love to build things, one of my first wrenching gigs was as a bike mechanic. Came across Facebook groups, found some frames being sold from a guy who's a legitimate old-school bike racer. Bought a few, cheap, then got to hitting Ebay for oldschool LX groupos. Built those bike, upgraded my two old Caloi mountain bikes (Andes Sport and Andes Comp, circa 1994) and kind of half-arsed the two road bikes I'll likely never ride again (drivers around here SUCK). Found myself with 9 bikes in short order.

And.. now my son decided to get rid of his GT Karakoram 29er. Soooo... now I have 10. At least this one is substantially different from the old stuff (bigger wheels).

Starting a monitored medical program to reverse T2D and high blood pressure (Virta). The idea is very much to drop some weight and get my ass back on the bike. My knees and joints are shot, but a lot of that is inflammation and sitting around. Time to get to it.

I tried to tell him this. He bought it for $200, lightly used. I put a $100 set of Shimano brakes on it (the Avids that came on it were leaking like crazy), he wanted to sell it for $350. I told him to call it rent next month, and I'll keep it in the family.

Looks like an SOTV-A or SOTV-B (I can never recall which is the pickup), if I'm not mistaken.

Had a blast driving those things around before we put them on the RORO ships to get to you guys.

    Stay safe, brothers.

Swapped out the air shock with a coil.

Bike Yoke 6.1 (low) + Rockshox Vivid r2c with a MRP progressive coil. Test ride today it was nice. Changed the feel of the rear end of the bike completely.

I’ve been thinking about doing this on my full suspension also. Not sure why exactly, I’ve never ridden a coil before, but something different may be nice.

Should I feel guilty about this?.. I went out riding today and I was making a left turn onto this gravel. I saw these couples coming towards about 20ft away riding side by side. After making that turned I was holding the left side for a few sec then... switched to the right side for “ trail etiquette “. The wife collided with her husband and both got knocked down. The husband fell on his wrist. The wife says it’s okay after I apologized. What y’all think.

lol not your fault if they collided making room for you, which they should be. Assuming they had enough time to move when you switched sides.

If they were moving out of your way, then you switched sides all of a sudden, too close to them, and they had to change course to avoid you, then that's a different story.

That gravel tail is about 5-6ft wide, I easily brake where they crashed

As I’ve said. I’ve rode the small (5’1” - 5’5”) around the yard and that things a blast. Not considering trail speed day to day probably have lot more fun on that bike than mine.
