You lowered it some? I dont follow the 2nd gens alot. I personally like jdm wheel designs. But you have to decide what your style and taste is. I choose a very light wheel. I went from factory 14s to 18s and didn't gain any extra weight. Weight is my enemy,

Sorry I was outside for a while, My truck looks great with 18s. The 2nd gen body is bigger than mine. I researched for a while to determine what size looked good and not oversized and had the right proportion to the truck. Depending on What you factory rolling diameter is you can calculate from there. My factory tire diameter is 25". So my 225 40 18s are exactly 25" Also. So my speedo calibration did not change and the rear gear ratio stayed the same and the truck did not get higher up. So you need to know what is your factory tire size. You can go 17s with a chunkier tire and it would look good. But the body on your is bigger, you can go to 18s or 19s easy and it would look even better with the correct tire. But as the rim size goes up the tire sidewall goes down. Let me try to post some pics of my wheels so you can see. Hope fully I can get the pics to load. My phone has issues.

Are you on factory wheels now? what size are they? 17s would look a bit small on your truck. An 18" with a little more meat on the tire would look better. Here's the lowdown with tires and their different sizes. Everyone is different. Do you like a harsher ride or more refined and comfortable one. The lower the profile the smaller the sidewall is. One tire like a bridgesto potenza has a sidewall like a rock. They are gonna have amazing steering input and cornering but will torture you with no comfort. A softer sidewall is important if the comfort is important to you. The tires I have are summer performance tires and you can see they are pretty low, but even though they ride really amazing.Why because you can compress the sidewall with your fingers so they have a softer sidewall. They are very good hitting and soaking up bumps and the imperfections on the road.

I posted the pictures so you can see how the 18s look on mine and how they look in proportion to my truck against the body. The second gen trucks like your are larger. The first gens like mine are mini. If I were to park next to you my truck world look like the baby Taco next to you. That means you can easily rock 18s with no issue or 19s if you want. But 17s look small even on mine to me at least they do. Some people have 17s. But I'm glad I got my 18s, no more or less.

I got 15s on my truck with a 215 75r 15 tire

 

Ok. I checked the overall tire diameter for 215 75 15. And it is 27.6" total diameter. If your trucks original tires are 215 75 15 and you want to maintain the speedometer correct and the final drive ratio in your differential without issues then Your new wheel and tire combination has to be around 27.5- 27.6 or so. That means you now know what is the tallest tire you can get. Then you for instance say your looking for a 17" wheel you would have to determine all the usual details like how wide you want the wheels, what's the offset that will work on your truck. How wide do you want your tires to be. Everything is important to have wheels that fit right. The bolt pattern,the center hub bore diameter. and the tires you choose should not exceed 27.7 inches in diameter. I always use tirerack.com to find all the information for tires sizes and all that stuff there. Say you want an 18x10. youd have to make sure the wheel fits first. Then look for tires you like that fit the wheel and are that magic 27.6" inches tall or the closest you can get to it. for instance a 10" wide wheel can fit a 245 wide tire all the way to 295 and greater. That depends if you like to have the tires stretched on the rim or not. That's why you have to know these things about what you want. The wheels you want, how you like the tires to look. Do you want a street high performance tires, or do you occasionally hit the dirt roads? Those are all on you to decide. That is what I did. I did it once and had no fitment issues because I did my homework first on it. Remember at tire rack.com you can see different size tires and how big they are. Hope that helps you some.

 

If you’re looking for 5 lug wheels, go with the Tundra faux bead locks, those look great. Best place to find them is FB marketplace.

I seen a 2nd gen 5 lug with aome negative offset wheels earlier this week those wheels poked out very far. Some machined and black directional design. Looked good, but looked like the fronts would rub when turning.

I'm not going to sway you in any way, it's your choice just dont rush it and be sure. I will tell you with 17s is nothing. I went up 4 rim diameter sizes from 14" to 18". you going from 15 to 17". that's up two sizes.

 

To select the tires also you should know what you need. what is the weather like where you drive. Do you need dry handling grip. etc there are many different types of tires for whatever you need to do. For example I choose high performance summer tires with good resistance to aguaplaning. I live in Florida where we get heavy rains and you need good rain tires here. and the summer aspect gives me grip when it's hot so I got the tires perfectly matched for my need.
