Did a little dealer visit for a reflash. Took in a printed copy of the tsb.

I installed the AUX Beam controller my wife bought me. I wasn't sure where I wanted to mount the switch in the cab. I ended up taking the little bin out of the switch panel on the left side of the steering wheel, ran the cable through that opening, then put screws in to hold the controller in place from the inside of the switch housing so it would look clean. It's hard to tell in the picture but I used the mounting bar that came with the controller as a template to mark the screw hole distance, drilled them out, and used a couple of the included screws. The OEM switch panel has some ridges at the exact distance where the screw holes would line up so I had to dremel those down. I mis-measured a bit the first go around and it ended up sitting to high so I had to drill a second set of holes a little lower.
The one thing I don't care for about this kit is that the plastic cover that comes with the circuit breaker presses the reset button whenever I put it on and breaks the circuit so I just left it off. Hopefully that doesn't create a weather proof problem. I may just cut the top off of the case over that button and be done with it.

To be honest, I would be more worried about him personally than if someone said something that hurt his feelings. I don't know him well, of course, but he was always a gentleman and on more than one occasion his reaction to someone who was being a jerk or rude was to just put them on ignore -- and announce that he was doing so. So I have to assume no one chased him away because we would be more likely to push back and then ignore them.

    Fingers crossed ...

Did they test drive it or did you just tell them it hunted at 55-65? The Toyota dealer told me they'd have to replicate the issue and if they couldn't I'd have to pay $160 diagnosis fee. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it is annoying enough that I hit the ECT button. I offered to pay the 1/2 hour labor fee and the service advisor said no. I wasn't pleased.

Really don't understand that approach. It would take them longer to verify the problem than to just install the darn update.

They did put a couple miles on the truck and unplugged my dash cam for the duration of the visit at the dealership. I did have to approve an hour of diag since my truck is modified. The TSB says it's covered under Federal Emissions warranty till 80K so I wasn't too worried. I offered to take the advisor for a drive to display the issue but he said it should be fine. Got a call about 90 minutes after dropping it off that it was all ready to go. I work in the auto biz and spent 7 years in a dealership. My brother worked for a Toyota dealer as an advisor and then service manager for about 18 years in 2 of their stores.

My last vehicle was a Yukon and it had a TSB on the transmission fluid. My wife and I took it in to get it looked at and they started that stuff. All the more reason I don’t buy GM products anymore.

The army green changes color a lot but the cement color does also... possibly more. Or maybe it’s because I’m always staring at mine? Congrats

Since it was a balmy 30F degrees out today I finished wiring my roof lights. I gotta say you would think Toyota would have a better access point in the firewall for pulling wires, they have to know people mod the hell out of these trucks. The one unused grommet is right behind the clutch pedal and that was really annoying. Now all that's left is to tidy up the wires but that will have to wait until it is truly warm outside, at least 45F degrees lol.

Been a few weeks since I've posted hope everyones holidays went well. The taco, however, has gone through some changes. Some are minor(stickers and decals) other are a bit bigger(RCI front skid plate and 1.5" AAL from icon). The skid was given to me courtesy of Mrs. Claus and the AAL's went on last weekend. Also have RCI rock rails on order, but who knows when they will get here...long lead time 6-8 weeks. Enjoy!!!

Looks good a few places have a bit of rough edge but it's 1/4" thick I'm sure and is about 30+ pounds. The bolt missing in the pic I have it was in the box.

Added another attachment today. Ya never know when you're gonna need a 42" crowbar. Better to be with than without. I tried to attach a 30 second video but it didn't load. The point of the video was to show that when the tailgate is closed, the crowbar can not be removed.image3-2.jpgimage0-2.jpgimage2-2.jpg

Ive actually used my giant crowbar many times. If you ever see a duck walking around a sewer, chances are the baby ducks fell down. You can use the crowbar to pull off the sewer cover and rescue them.
