My 35" KM2s were 34" when new. Its rare that a 37" ( or any size) tire measures that. A typical size difference seems to be 1/2" - 1" shorter than advertised. Im not sure why but its fairly consistent. But knowing that, people still say they have 37"s because that's what is advertised and puts everyone on the same playing field when talking about what size tires they have. With that knowledge though, if you want your tires to measure bigger then you could always buy 39s knowing they may be 38s.

Also bias tires should be viewed differently than radial tires. One because they generally balloon slightly when aired up but more importantly, they are completely different when aired down. A 37" radial tire that's 36.5" when aired up may only be 35" when aired down to 12 psi where as a bias with equal aired up measurement may be 36" when aired down to 6 psi. So if your sole tire choice decision is having a taller tire for going over obstacles easier then you would need a bigger size radial to begin with versus a bias. I've run a variety of both and this is something that should be taken into consideration if the tire choice is purely offroad based.

    37 trep next to a 37 tsl sx2. Both measure 36. I should have gone 40s...

Honestly I think very little about ground clearance in regards to tire height and airing down. Most of it is probably just being on solid axles with a higher belly height compared to IFS. Regardless of what your ground to axle clearance is, the bigger tire is going to act as a better lever to get up onto rocks and thats normally the primary focus.

Agreed. And in that regard, tire traction is far more important than tire size. A big shitty tire can take you no where real fast. Haha I think my point being that there are multiple things to consider when buying tires and just because you don't think those things are relevant to you, they could be relevant to someone else. But ...... fair enough for you to point out ..... Carters new truck is closer in size and style to yours than it is to mine so you may have it all figured out.

Truck has some big wheel spacers on it. Like 2”. Not sure if they’re needed or not for frame clearance, but they’ve ripped both the front fenders off. Hopefully I can get rid of or downsize them. Idk.

Welcome to toyota solid axle life, where wheel spacers and crazy scrub radius's reign supreme.

I'll tell you I run no spacers and I have stock axle width and hubs. 37" razrs don't rub anything with factory steering bumps, but those are removed now since I have longfields, and the tire lugs do get into my leaf springs at full lock. I may add 1" spacers eventually

It really is quite a set of radii this thing has. Quite different from the 1st gen.

actually, this thing is the antithesis of my truck in every single way. Every one.

Absolutely. They've been great so far, definitely the best on-road of the tires I've ran. They took 3 wheeling trips and about 1500 road miles to finally break in, but now they seem pretty sticky on rocks. They've always seemed to do well in mud. I have 8 wheeling trips, 1 year, and about 4000 miles on them now.
I run them at 8psi without bead locks

I bought some more toys. I figured if you’re gonna have a truck like this, you better have the stuff on hand to build on it. Also, I’m trying to get my shop outfitted so this was a good excuse.

One on the right is the hub off an ifs 4runner. It basically acts as a 1.5" spacer when put on a solid axle.
(Also allows you to bolt on larger tacoma brakes)
