What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Stiffened up my recently cut driver side bedside with a bracket courtesy of @EatSleepTacos Man that thing is SOLID now.

 

For anyone wondering, these are brackets that Mobtown Offroad supplies with their high clearance bumper. I just never got around to installing it and thought brian would get better use out of them.

 

Perfect for this application.

I was just about to tell Brian "Well aren't you lucky........all of us don't have RandyFab around to fabricate something up for us" so I am glad that you let us know that we can get them through mobtown lol.

Not Tacoma related except that I was in my Tacoma when it happened. Yesterday, on my way to work I spotted a Rivian truck in the wild. It had camouflage graphics on it but not like the black and white ones you normally see on prototype testing vehicles. Pretty cool and it looked pretty sweet.

 

I went with 255/70 as well. The other options are pretty light, especially if you carry any weight in your bed. But your leaf springs will have a bigger impact on the overall feel of your ride

Added a 1” lowering block kit so my ‘08 Tacoma would look level. I did this to my ‘06 when I had it because to me it just looks better. This is not a very good picture comparison but it’s all I have right now.

I’ve contemplated selling my bumper and doing a high clearance myself

 

I finished up fabricating, then painted, and installed the traction bar that I built. It is a 100% success. After installing it I beat the crap out of the go pedal trying to get something to break but it never did. The azz end of the truck has zero axle wrap now, it rides slightly stiffer, the brakes are even better (I didn't think that was possible), and its handling in corners improved greatly.

I'm wondering if this thing needs a panhard rod because this traction bar's design shouldn't have affected cornering. Panhard rods aren't typically used in leaf spring suspensions but there's no reason that it wouldn't work in keeping the azz perfectly centered at all times.

And I love the sound of 37/12.50's spinning on blacktop from a stock V6 with an automatic trans.

 

The lower bushing on one of my bilstien 5125 rear shocks was sloppy after 30k miles. I looked through the rear all-pro lift kit that I got and found that they sent fox shocks lower bushings that was not needed ( the bilstien came with their own). So at lunch I got a peace of card board and laid on it on the snow and took it out. Used the drake press at work to swap out bushings. Works great now.

Cobra cb (thinking of mounting under seat)
ecg front dif bushing
Led fog lights

 

what about all the fan boys that think they need a manual trans on the trail though. Front and rear lockers with an auto trans is where its at folks. Go check out a purpose built rock crawler for you ladies that don't believe me. With an auto your not griding the gearbox and you can feel the axle wrap. Keep doing what your doing man. Maybe you can teach these young pups to drive in the dirt! I had a full size Truck with 36 TSL's and could hold my beer and push the pedal and go any damn where I wanted.
