I can't leave anything well enough alone
Sounds like my truck... very heavy. Ver very heavy. I bent the frame in a 'beach incident' on the baja gulf. Frame flexed/bent bad enough that the shell contacted the cab and broke the back window out. I've also collapsed a leaf, broken front suspension, ripped the core support, etc. And I don't jump or do anything crazy, but it is a heavy overland rig. I do have dual batteries up front that I'm looking to move. The one difference though, is that I just took out the poly core support bushings, and replaced with new OEM. I found my core support problems accelerated like crazy for the 1500 miles I put on the poly bushings. Besides how relentlessly noisy and clunky the main cab bushings were (regardless of torque and I tried everything), the fronts seemed to be too stiff, causing the body to be pushed and pulled around with frame flex (like held rigidly being a bad thing, vibration transfer, etc), instead of being softly supported and allowed to float. From a bushing specific thread (but not meaning to side track the conversation here)
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...or-body-bushings.636828/page-14#post-24893631

but I am seriously interested in replacing my core support, potentially re-inforcing it in the process, to have it hold up better, before I get crazy cracking elsewhere. And of course move to a lithium aux battery in the back. I think I'd like to put my winch controller, main distribution block, and ARB twin where the existing dual battery setup is on the fender. But those things aren't light either. Might just leave my compressor where it is now.

It'd be cool if the new tank works with the fuel gauge computer. Curious to see if that's the case [although I unfortunately suspect not]

They might be cooking up some ideas for adapting the stock sending unit.

Get out of here with your CARB tomfoolery, I got no time for that

I would think that the onboard fuel computer on the 3rd gens still won't calculate the amount correctly. This has been an issue with the LRA tanks. It's fine, just gotta know that when it says, "please refuel" you have x miles left. Just annoying to see the light on the dash.

That’s funny, my core support deteriorated fast after going poly on the body mounts and core support too. I was going to go back to oem rubber mounts. The added road feedback I got wasn’t worth it for my daily. Need it smooth for the baby in the back haha.

Talk to JD. You can do it as an auxiliary tank (transfer fuel into stock tank) or cut over as a 2nd tank and use a separate guage.
