Well, It's been a good run. I've had my 2006 Indigo Ink 4x4 since new. It had 222k miles. A deer decided to play chicken with me. . . Insurance called it a total loss. Here are some of my favorite pictures of my baby. And last, the final picture I will ever take of her. :( I feel worse now that I'm going through old pictures. . .2021-01-07 (1).jpg

Dang. Must be the color. Lures them to it.

Did the insurance treat you pretty fairly with the valuation? What ya replacing it with?

I think mine should have been totaled, but they fixed it anyway. 12k worth of damage.

    negative.

unfortunately, the deer was in many pieces.

Insurance is giving me $12,800. Which I think is decent for the mileage and condition. There was previous body damage, missing a tailgate, and CEL (02 sensor).

I bought two older Toyota's while waiting on insurance. Here they are :)

I'd have eaten a piece as revenge! :hungry:

    Sounds pretty fair to me!

lol. You think they would learn. I killed a deer with my motorcycle about 10 years ago. We need open hunting season all year long. Too many of these big rats roaming around. They should have totaled yours. My repair shop quoted 12k in damages.

Just by the posted damage and for the right price, I would buy that back and fix it. Not sure why it was totaled since the damage was minimized with the aftermarket bumper. Even with a tweaked frame, worth buying back since the rest of the damage are bolt on items.

Glad you're okay. I'm sure it sucks, I would be upset too. Just try to be grateful because it can always be worse.

Same , not seeing 12k damage but if the frame is damaged it has to be minimal. Good buy back candidate.

If the last pic is of the truck after the deer incident why not buy it back from the insurance use the remainder of the money and fix it. It doesn't look all that bad.

My 04 Highlander. 7 years ago. ~120k miles. Insurance totaled it after the repair estimate went over 8K. They gave me $15K. Doesn’t look that bad, airbags didn’t deploy, but the rear axle was pushed back. You don’t know until they get into it.

Bummer man. Sorry to hear about the truck!
Is the Reg Cab Tacoma 2WD? If so, you planning to go back to a 4x4?

    ouch...poor truck.

how fast were you traveling? i've never hit a deer..(knocking on wood). come close, it takes a lot of effort to NOT overdo the evasive movements. now i just go slow thru my neighborhood..which is infested.

my boss hit a turkey and blew up the grill and hood, and broke the windshield. i cannot imagine a deer at that speed.
