Maybe 10-15 minutes and took a 15 minute detour to get home. We actually had tribal police parked at the end of our road blocking through traffic because everyone thinks our street is a through street and it isn't.

I wish I could get a clear picture. We can see multiple emergency vehicles and vehicles parked on the highway, probably even the semi we were parked behind. Not sure what happened yet but it was on Waze as a major accident.

Edit: can't find more information yet but it lists the crash as fatal :(

I promised a new story time the other day and forgot about it. Been trying to think of a good one. If I've told this one, excuse my fuddled old brain. Lots of shit happened in this state, miracle we all survived living there.

Mississippi was a great place growing up as a young lad of 12-13. We lived there from 1969-1971, or thereabout.

Acres of woods to explore which was a boys paradise to me. Behind our house was a large flat area that belonged to the power company, but since nothing was there we used it as needed. It was the first place I learned to drive a 1964 plymouth Valiant super 225 slant six with push button automatic transmission. Our driveway was the right of way to access this patch of earth. After about a year the power company decided to build what I suppose was a booster station there.

Well my brothers and I didn't take kindly to that, and we created as much mayhem as young boys could do, thinking we'd convince them to move onto other projects, but it wasn't meant to be. while they were building the chain link fence to keep marauding teens out, we vandalized where possible. they had a fairly large pile of 3/16 diameter hard metal that they used to joint the chain links fencing together. My younger brother and I found out that with a lot of patience, and good 3 lb sledge hammer and my dads anvil, we could bend it out straight, and pound a decent spear head on the end.

You would be surprised how far these things would fly, and they came in real handy gigging frogs, and crawdads and such. Also behind our house was a large drainage ditch that the washing machine drained into, and the septic tank drain line. But frogs and minnows and crawdads manage to live in this just fine, and we put those handmade spears to good use inflicting death on some of these unfortunate critters.

One day my brother and I go into an argument about something I can't remember, and he use the classic "I'm telling Mom" line on me which pissed me off. He took of running to the house which was about 100 yards or so away. Now don't ask why I did this, we were young(stupid) boys who didn't always think things through, but when he was at least 50 yards away, I hurled that spear at him, which later I realized was beyond stupid. Well that spear struck him right in the heel of his foot, and had no problems piercing all the way through his shoe. Stuck in a good 1/2 or farther. Of course at his wailing, I ran to him, and I pulled the spear from his heel, and yep, it bled quite a bit. But being brothers we always attempted to cover up the stupid shit we did, so as to not get each other in trouble.

So we sneaked in the house, and cleaned up his foot, and bandaged it to what we thought was E.R quality repairs. Needless to say, that around midnight or so, he woke me up complaining of his foot really hurting bad, and it was all red and swollen. I'm sure that the nasty water and god knows what germs lived in it had something to do with that. So like a good soldier, I went and woke up my mom, which didn't go over to well. She had him soak his foot in Epson salt, and took him to the doctor the next day for a tetanus shot. This little episode which was just one of many over the years of four boys growing up, merited me quite the ass beating from my Dad. As we grew older, and entered our late teens, early 20's we used to sit around and get stoned and laugh about all the shit we got into, which always resulted in a major ass beating from Dad. I should attempt to write a boot of short vignettes about all the crap we did. Over the years, when we would tell such yarns, many of our friends didn't believe them until my mom would verify their authenticity.

Now don't rag on me about the dangers of throwing a spear at my brother. Believe me after the fact, I was mortified at the possibilities of what could have happened.
