2021 Great North Woods - Fall Date TBD

I went on the 19th-21st, had a good time, made it up to estcourt station.

 

So I guess we'll make this an odd-numbered year tradition.

 

I'm game when this eventually happens!

 

I’ll have my new sleeping setup by hopefully the end of this year so definitely by this timeframe. Looking forward to it actually materializing!

 

well here we are December 3rd... still in covid land... but.. a vaccine is in the near future.. but who knows how long before we hit a critical herd immunity at only 12k doses (6k people). for our initial shipment in the end of december. and plans are to get initial doses to public health workers, and first responders first. initial reports I have heard on the news, and reported are that the first injection is ok, and you may get a slight fever, or flu like symptoms, but the second hits you like you have a bad flu... headaches, migranes, lethargic... as a "essential" employee, not really looking forward to this requirement of my job... but hopefully this is a step into ridding ourselves of these lockdowns, and depressing living conditions. I really want to get out there and go to restauraunts, eat out, meet new people... and travel when and where I want to.

 

Somewhat ominously, the end date for the travel restrictions to/from Maine no longer appear on the front of the state's COVID response web page.

 

Being an essential State employee (corrections) I have other special restrictions, and considerations.

 

I know the feeling.

 

Let's start thinking about August or September for this.

 

September is better for bugs. Mainly those damn horse flies and mosquito hordes.

We spend a week up there mid August every year, they are not that bad then.

 

Nah, let's see how long we can keep this one going before the trip actually happens

 

Let’s plan for next month and keep extending a month at a time just like the state of emergency has been

 

I'm probably in. Most likely I'll be vaccinated in 1B by then, hopefully.

Biggest decision will be if I'm going to ground camp or bring my little camper.

How does it take vibration from washboard roads? We shook grandude's trailer apart last time.

 

If 2021 is anything like 2020, the NMW will be very busy/popular again and sites may be hard to come by.

 

I’ve shaken a few things off a trailer, even had a buddies rack shake apart once up there.
