or you can just walk into a Princess Auto and pick up whatever it is you need :cookiemonster:
they're essential service as they tailor to truckers and agriculture unlike CrappyTire that i can't just walk in to get a bottle of friggen glue and need to wait 24 hours before i can pick it up....

unless they changed it a few days ago or something

but good to hear you grabbed that kinetic rope as well, i picked one up about a month ago when we all talked about it for round $50 and it doesn't feel like crap material.

I have plastic jerrycans. I’ve seen the metal ones corrode in our environment and they are a pain if you lose or forget the spout. They also dent.

idk, i've not used a huge number of jerry cans. heck i use a 10 year old plastic one as a daily..

but ill add my views i guess o_O

metal; rusts, a lot heavier (10lbs an empty can), can dent, old cans can split at the welds, can hold higher pressures but can be explosive god forbid something happens (you're shoving the can into a fire for that to happen)

plastic; doesn't rust, light weight (4lbs empty), doesn't really deform (unless you have half a can and let it bake in the sun, which causes it to balloon ask me how i know), nozzle is fucking stupid so i just a fuel funnel, does not like heat all too much

I guess its all up to what your personal preference is. Me personally I like the 25l plastic ones from Canadian Tire.
First off its 25l, Secondly no vent so no escaping gases, third there lighter, and lastly I don't have to worry about rust inside.
now that said my last truck had a 400l slip tank for diesel and when I got the tacoma I had a tank I put in there roughly 60l and it smelled from day one of fuel. Plus gas is much more dangerous with especially with static electricity so I decided to go with plastic ones for now.

hear are a couple of pics of my old truck with the bid diesel tank and when i did the cross Labrador i got this tank for the Tacoma, which was not needed btw.

Actually I will buy Plastic ones, because of the noise and possible dents. Does anyone has big Plastic Jerricans that you do not need?
And What is the price we can get them at Princess Auto?

So the princess Auto ones would smell/vent gas?

I think you guys might be overthinking the jerrycan thing...
metal = outdated, heavy and lame :poking:
plastic = cool colours, light and awesome :cookiemonster:

To visualize, you could pay 25$ for this:

    or 20$ for this:

so if we do not want smell inside the truck, we should avoid the ones that say "Vented"?
I see some say "vented" , others dont say anything.

    And what does "self-vent" means?

I'm not a jerrycan expert, but I think "vented" just means it has a little nub with a hole. they usually have some sort of cap so it shouldn't smell.

if its "safety first" then any fuel can should be outside the truck.

yeah, Vent caps also help regulate pressure. A light twist and have the pressure escape wth nothing more of a hiss for a few seconds - then it's easier to remove the main cap to dump the fuel. especially if you can't twist off the main cap

oh how i don't envy you standing out in the cold for 20 minutes pouring gas out of a can without a vent cap...

instructions with jerry cans with vent caps; remove vent cap = faster flow rate = less time standing outside. Because air gets into the can from another location (usually opposite corner of where you're pouring) letting more fuel leave from the main cap

I drove to Tuktoyaktuk in Februaray 2018. Minus 50° the whole way. I had 5 x 20 litre plastic jerrycans identical to the Costco. They were not required thankfully but at that temperature, you can't risk not being able to run the engine if you are stuck. I still keep 2 of them in the bed. I fill them when the price of gas is favourable. A couple of times I've forgotten to secure them an they haven't ever lost a drop. Driving to Tuk in summer I would probably take 3 or 4 along because the stretches of wilderness there are greater than Northern Ontario.

Nope, they are well gasketed and sealed, I find they are better locking wise compared to the plastic ones I find, though all my plastic gas cans are older then me. And for cans made in the fifties they are in real good condition. Hell I might be justifying that I bought 10
