Phosphate is a coating, nitride is a treatment

Phosphate will be harder to clean and needs more lubrication

Phosphate is also the "mil-spec" coating.

Nitride is like what you see on Glock and M&P slides (although the recipes slightly differ from brand to brand). Nitriding is a method of treating the metal, but not a brand.

I found the NiB Toolcraft BCG at PSA for $165 last week. Not a bad deal considering the times

I have an Aero Nitride BCG. I don't have a whole lot of rounds through it due to price of ammo lately but it has functioned flawlessly with what I have managed to get through it.

Speaking of Aero, I just checked their website and they have their AR-15 'Fix-it Kits' ($12.99) and AR15/M4E1 ($14.99) Field Repair Kits back in stock. These are great kits at what I consider to be reasonable prices for spare parts that may get lost during a build or are prone to failure with very heavy use. I keep one in my range bag and will likely pick up another today. Also have their Lower Parts Kits back in stock. I'm sure parts are only going to get harder to find over the next 4 years.

    https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-fix-it-kit

    https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-m4e1-field-repair-kit

    https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-lpk-minus

And before anyone asks, no I am not affiliated with Aero. I just like good parts at reasonable prices.
