OP: Please post the results of your getting this tsb done. it looks promising but it is fairly extensive and I want to make sure it works before hitting a dealer and gambling it is done right.

    Exactly ^^.
We all are waiting OP. Don't want the dealer messing with my truck unless it's a win.

My dealer performed the new TSB -0124-20, dated 12/15/2020, designed to remedy the driveline vibrations on my 2021 RS 4x4 Tacoma. This is the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that many Tacoma owners have been waiting for to correct what has been an ongoing vibration problem (coming off power to a stop 30 to 10 mph) on the Gen 3 Tacoma 4x4 .

I am happy to report that it has eliminated more than 90% of the vibrations! I highly recommend that you have this TSB performed if you own Gen 3 4x4 Tacoma (TSB applies to non-aftermarket modified 4x4).

For those that want more details:
(In a former life I was an Army Aviator maintenance test pilot, so I like the details)

Coasting slow stop: I detected little or no vibrations.
Hard stop: little or no vibrations
Moderate braking stop (the type that annoys your wife): I felt a mild vibration beginning at 13-10 mph that dissipates rapidly.

I will try to get the Service manager to give me the final driveshaft angles measurements. It would be interesting to see how close they got it to zero.

Note that this is a brand new TSB. I do not know if Toyota has built up a stock of the new parts needed to perform this TSB at scale across the country. [steering wheel harmonic balancer, a special screw, and the new leaf springs]. I recommend you get in line early with your local dealer.

Additionally, I recommend you ask your dealer to have their best master mechanic to do the work. A skillful woman mechanic, with over 20 years of experience, did the work on my Tacoma. She got it done right the first time.

Finally, I was careful not to be perceived as an angry over-demanding customer; we all know that guy! I worked directly with the Service Manager for the dealership. I appreciated that he communicated promptly with me on his work email and mobile phone.

Thank you for sharing the follow up. I have heard many “horror stories “ on here trying to get the dealership to do the TSBs it has me weary.

Just dropped my SR5 2019 (27k miles) off at my local dealership. Showed the tech the tsb and explained what it was doing and he said his does the same thing. He was excited there was a tsb until he realized it was 4x4 only then he was disappointed about it. So they are keeping it overnight because they are saying it takes 2 hours to diagnose and measure angles. Will update tomorrow with what they find and say. I’ve had the truck for less than a week so I hope this isn’t a major rabbit hole. Just got rid of used f-150 I had for 3 months and replaced transmission, transfer case and fuel pump so hoping Toyota redeems time wasted!

Got my taco back a few days ago wanted to drive a couple days before giving my take on the tsb. From what I’ve seen from two days of driving I will have to agree that it does cut back on the vibration on deceleration. In my case I wouldn’t say it took away 90%. I would be confident in saying it took away around 65-70%. I want to drive it some more to survey all driving scenarios. Worth the fix so far!

My 2020 trd sport has this problem. Dealer replaced rear drums and front rotors. Brakes smooth now but, vibration while braking to a stop is still present. Truck had under 500 miles. I'm surprised more owners aren"t complaining of this on this forum..

Been driving my truck for nearly a year now, no vibration of any sort... its very smooth better than my tundra ever was. Likely why not many complaints.

Took my 2020 in today and had no issue at all having them agree to perform the TSB. Parts coming in on Tuesday and replaced next Wed. I'll keep you posted.
