Gas heater, has freeze protection. Probably will get a cover next year though, with the kiddo coming and all.

yeah ideally for cold smoking, I'd want to see the fan turn on alone when hitting the power button...that way it's only circulating the air inside the chamber from a smoke tube.

FYI - I have a Amazon smoke tube and the fucking piece of shit doesn't stay lit. could be user error, but I've tried it according to the exact instructions from various youtube videos.

I don't know much about them to be honest. I just watch that fat Malcom guy on YT, he knows his shit. He has an old video on there smoking cheese with a tube in a regular grill (off obv) and it seemed pretty cool.

between him and ATBBQ I really got into it this past spring/summer when I was unemployed...I used my Pitboss just about every day. Now I get home and it's dark, so I don't use it.

He seems like it. I also like that he doesn't push his line of Rubs and Sauces, really at all. I bought a sampler pack from him that should be here this weekend.

Hes about as real as they come. Not pushy at all and hes actually pretty quite and reserved until its BBQ time. At MIM its an MBN style comp so they do ownsite judging as well as blind boxes. Malcolm can really lay it on for the judges. Pretty intertaining yo watch and hes got the hardware to prove it.

I never got a chance to cook in the big's like that but just being there was an expierience. MIM, the royal, the jack, the BPJ. All are huge contests. Quite the spectacle.

That's a lot of acronyms that I don't understand. But I'm glad to hear that he is a genuine as he seems. I've learned a lot from his videos, and as they say, never trust a skinny chef.

@SearArtist just one thing to warn you about, just a minor annoyance and it may not be an issue for you. I had to create a separate 2.4 ghz WiFi network for the rectec since it does not use 5ghz. It's more a symptom of the UniFi network that I have set up, if you have a regular router it's prob not an issue but just thought I would mention it.
