How much does it cost to print this? I see black ABS filament is just under $40 for a 2-lb spool on Amazon, so something that weighs half a pound would be about $10 in materials, plus other consumables and machine time?

I print with pla, 2lbs is about 30 bucks. You're pretty accurate there. This tray probably cost me 2-3 bucks to print. used 100 grams of material, and took 20ish hours, most of it off peak hours so probably half of that was electricity.

I did the same thing going to Attawapiskat last March. I took 80 litres with me. There was gas available but it sure is pricey compared to Southern Ontario.

20L of fuel is about 33 lbs, already cumbersome to juggle at shoulder-height to pour into the vehicle without spillage. I'd hate to add another 10 lbs with a metal jerrycan.

Metal jerrycans don't balloon as much under the hot sun. That's the only real benefit IMO.

Cool. Do you have experience with PLA parts in vehicle interiors? From what I've read, PLA is biodegradable and has a narrow temperature range.

I have on on my keychain, and have never had an issue. I guess we'll see. My friend has one as a hood ornament and never had an issue either.

Yes sir they sure are. They came with the cabin when I bought it 20 years ago and are certainly antiques. I also have two double sets....... they work good for hanging a big Tom turkey from his spurs

Ouch! I did the same thing Splitting some kindling and hit my left index finger between the knuckle in the first joint and broke it. I had a good leather glove on and it saved a lot of tissue damage.

The item was ready for curbside pickup just 50 minutes after ordering. Canadian Tire got its act together:

    SIkIrfcP6JoJ3kwN9MV6oeazrn383-zL4FitYP7R_afdd743053a969c0f342c9f5a9fa4f830124358f.jpg

Interesting to see how it's built - to prevent backflow, there's a weak check valve consisting of a spring-loaded glass ball that opens with shaking to allow the tube to be filled. Very simple construction, but if you were to design one from scratch, getting the right spring rate and ball weight would take much trial-and-error.

Glad Canadian Tire got the curbside pick up sorted out. I’m still waiting on gloves from March/April. Last time I tried to get them was June and they said they may have been stolen. I never would have thought Mechanix gloves were such a rare item.

Were they at a big discount? Why don't you just cancel the order and re-order?

    Probably at work.
    Vehicle:

The spring is probably only there as a “safety.”
Could get away with no spring the back pressure would pull the ball back into place. Would only have to slow the flow backwards enough that the gas stays in the tube.
*edit* might also be the slightest bit more efficient for initial start with the spring in though, but could also restrict flow a bit when going.
