Removed the cigarette lighter under the ac controls and swapped it out for a quick charge USB port. Pretty happy with the turnout, just wish it lit up red to match lol

I had wrapped my resis in clear vinyl to protect them but the hose clamps were digging in a bit. Thankfully not too much and the heatshrink tubing should help alleviate that going forward.

I have one I am waiting for warmer weather to install. Did you have to take apart the dash to do that? And is it the right diameter to fit right in or did you have to make the hole bigger?

Thanks buddy! Unfortunately I have since swapped tires to Nitto Ridge Grapplers and they don't have the white lettering available. I miss it though. Goes great with the white Tacoma.

Have you guys ever greased the driveshaft slip joint? It's just behind the carrier bearing. Sounds like at least some of the symptoms you're describing is coming from there..

yeah unfortunately the dash and center console have to come apart. There’s a write up on here that I followed, wasn’t bad just time consuming. And the outlet was a bit bigger than the cigarette lighter so I used a dremel to make the hole a bit larger.

the hardest part for me was to actually remove the cigarette lighter from the piece of trim lol. I eventually just pried on it (and scuffed the piece) until it came out.

I didn't have to tear apart anything more than pull out the AC panel. If your hands are small enough you can reach behind through that hole and save yourself a lot of time.

I used some rough sandpaper and it took maybe a minute to widen the hole. The cigarette lighter comes out if you use a pick to push some tabs on the inside in, then it comes out in a couple pieces. It's a standard type of thing, google or youtube it and you'll find walk throughs on removal.

no way my hand was fitting behind it, especially to pull the cigarette lighter out lol. Definitely wish I could have though, would have saved a lot of time.

yeah I saw them but I had eBay bucks to spend and the blue was cheapest w/ quick charge so I bought that one.

Eh, it worked for me, really all you need is two fingers to hold/screw the washer on the back side of the new unit in place. If you get the hole the right size and not too loose you don't need a ton of pressure holding it in place. YMMV.
