I took it apart and cleared out all the support that that was in the way. The y pipe must hang a bit below. I was able to get it to the middle hole but cat get it all the way. Do you think it would be an issue if I hit a rock or something because it’s not against the crossmember?

Where are you reading that? I know a bunch of people with these skids and no issues. Instructions are here.

Thank you for the response. Some stated the front skid middle through tube was too short. Transfer case bar rub brake lines.

I had an issue with the mid skid but I believe that the issue was with the urd y pipe. The urd y pipe hangs below the crossmember by about 1.5” to 2” even though they say it doesn’t. I still couldn’t get it to fit flush after cutting out the bracing. It’s better to go with a custom relocate. After wasting $500 on the y pipe I took it to a shop to have a custom relocation and had the bracing put back on.

There should be 0 fit issues with our skid plates. We have 100's out there with no problems.

What is the bolt size thread pitch aluminum skid plate window for the oil filter? I am going to pick up some shorter ones and lock washers in addition.

Not sure if this is the same for the 3rd gen, but this post has the most info about the Mobtown skid install that i wnted to add it here.

Instructions from Mobtown say to reuse factory hardware on the front skid. My 2015 didn't come with hardware in the cross member for the rear 2 bolts on that skid.

You'll need m8 x 1.25 bolts at 30mm long. My hole were filled with dirt and grime and needed to be cleaned out before running the bolts in.

Joe would have hooked me up with the bolts but I snagged some from a local shop. It's just a few bucks anyways.

    Picture just because :bananadance:

I know this is an old thread, but for anyone looking this up now it’s still relevant.

I did not need to use a jack, and I did have the gap in the above picture(s). I simply threaded the bolts in by hand, then tightened with a 3/8 drive ratchet and the gap closed up all by itself.

For anyone out there considering a Mobtown Aluminum skid—do it. It only cost like $30ish to ship it to me in TN, and I put it on myself using a water jug as a third hand to support the skid. 1.25 hr total time including taking off stock parts and BSing with a random FedEx guy for 15 min about Toyota’s.

Only problem? Now I want the other two mobtown skids!
