    Hello all,

I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. 4.0 V6, all services have been done. At 78k, this issue comes and goes. Feels like there is something holding back the acceleration. It feels like driving with a high wind hitting the front end. But no wind. Any thoughts?

Has your weather been going back and forth with temps? I know my Tacoma is horrible if like one day is 70* and the next day its cold like 40*. It seems like it takes the Toyota ecm's sometime to adjust to the new conditions or something. In about a day mine returns to normal.

I live in Utah. We haven't had much of a winter this year. But it's been about the same everyday.

Check for codes. There are too many subsystems working to be a probability of cause here. It could be something as simple from a MAF issue, to a fuel pump, fuel injectors, or even accelerator pedal/ throttle issues.

Check for codes first and if that is not something you have access to, take it to someone who has the access as well as the technical knowledge to inspect it properly. Be prepared to lose the truck for a few days or even a few weeks if the issue is terribly difficult to identify.

My buddy works for Honda, he is gonna hook up an Autel scan tool to watch it while he is driving it. I can't figure it out myself.

You got a brake piston sticking the brakes on?

Next time it does it get out and check the brake temps at all corners it possible you got one that's dragging.

Like others said, it is hard to say.
Does it do this at highway speed?

Just curious as to if the TQ converter is unlocking.
This would pretty much only happen in 4th and 5th if it were case.
Again, this a total guess. And doesn’t amount to much.

Just a thought since some of the trucks have had converter issues.
But it’s usually a shudder or rumble strip feeling.

I'll check on that too. The biggest thing is it comes and goes. If it were a trans issue of any form I feel like it wouldn't go away. It would only get worse.

I've had the trans drain/refilled two separate times. Both with no metal shavings and or low on fluid.

Sounds like the fuel filter possibly. When they get old and dirty they cause voodoo.

    That is good.
Like I said, it’s probably not the problem.

BTW, there are magnets in the pan.
The metal shavings are probably on the magnet.

I personally haven’t cleaned the magnets in my yet.
I haven’t dropped the pan. I’m just doing drain and fills.
Is this the “best way”. No, probably not. But it the route I’m choosing to go.

It is replaceable. If you want to drop the gas tank.
It’s on the bottom of the pump. At that point you might as well do the pump.
I don’t even want to think about it.

What do you mean buy all services? By the book (for a 2012) ATF is only supposed to be replaced at 60k under "special operating conditions"

Spark plugs on the other hand are supposed to be done every 30k

I bought the truck right around 62,000 miles. Right away did the oil/filter, front diff, t case, rear axle fluid, brake fluid, p/s fluid, trans drain and refill, spark plugs, both filters, cleaned MAF, coolant drain/refill, I always run 91. I think I've done it all.

Yeah Id say so haha. What I was getting at was if you had those services done buy a shop, they might have missed or messed something up. But sounds like you got it covered.
