the most hilarious thing is when you're going up a common hiking trail and everyone's always like, "you're so hardcore!" and you just go, "yeah! sure!"

Yea man I love them. It also helps because it removes the need for a bell to warn other trail users you are fast approaching

So the back ordered Micro 900 finally came in, so I now have the 1200 on bars and 900 on helmet. There’s only about a 30g difference between the two, not sure if that will make a difference on neck strain or not since at most your ride at night will be 2Hr.

The 1200 runs at 1000 for 1.5 hours
The 900 runs at 900 for 2 hours

So after seeing both I’d say go with 900 for the price difference and similar performance. I’ll compare beams soon.

i have 1200's on both head and bar. i haven't noticed neck strain on my head on multi hour night rides. I wish they had like 30 minutes to 1 hr more runtime on high. Just a skosh more would've been awesome. but oh well. they're still great lights.

The incremental 30 grams is 1 oz. Your helmet prob absorbs that much in sweat, and I wager you don't notice/care. The light being there vs not is whats gonna maybe give you a kink in your neck.

Just observation. I rode with just the 1200 for about 3 hours one night after work, only about 1 hour was truly dark and needed lights on brightest settings non boost so 1000 lumens.. Same trails I ride in day time and got zero neck strain.

However I also don’t mind wearing a full face on moderate trails. So weight isn’t an issue to me.

Mine doesn't bother me per se, but I do notice the weight on top gives me a "bobble head" feel.

The weight is noticeable for sure, just not an issue. The Micro 900 being shorter may also reduce the bobble of quick turns of the neck. Front and back bobble will be similar though.

If I buy another light in the future for the bike it will be the cyclops adventure light.

I've met the owner before at a 24 hour enduro dirt bike race. Great guy

TBH I think the micro 900 is better buy, but the 1200 is more powerful if using it for short periods say only on the gnarliest part of trail for the night then backing it back down.. The 900 is more efficient, and the smaller stature is nice. I did grab both lights where the mounting point is and shook back and forth and there is noticeably better weight distribution on the 900 as well. NR did very well on the Micro series.

Get this light if it's in budget

I'm a big Moose House fan, but a Johns lap is super fun too! So many roots!

Honestly all the PC trails are great. Spiro is my guilty pleasure! Esp if you hit it early in the morning when there aren't many hikers out and about.

So, also relevant to this page. I have no love for tailgate pads. So I built my own rack.
