So yeah. Fast blinking because of low resistance and all that. But here's the weird part.

So, I was given four 7443 LED bulbs. Into the tail light they go. I thought maybe the CANBUS would be smart enough to figure it out and low and behold. Signals blink normally, until I turn on the heaights, then the rapid blinking thing.

So I guess this has me wondering are there LED bulbs that do work in the rear as turn signals?

I had to add resistors to avoid hyper flash. Check out the lighting section perhaps there’s an answer there.

Thanks. Didn't realize there was a lighting section.

Check out Lasfit 7443 leds. I used them in my previous 4Runner and currently in my Tacoma. They have built in resisters and work perfectly. I have them for front signals as well.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
This is concerning for my month old '21 TRD OR.
I replaced all bulbs in my '06 TRD OR (except headlights) with LEDs and nary a problem.
Guess the electrical system has evolved to something much more complicated and touchy.
    Rather annoying.

I also had weird results adding Diode Dynamics 7443 to my taillights. Some times they would work. Other times it would make a turn signal stay lit

i have the same issue with the led turn signals that i installed. i am just gonna ignore it, probably go back to halogen after they fail. i dont want to install an external resistor.

I have GTR lighting Carbide CANBUS 2.0 bulbs and have never once had a hyper flash issue on the rears. I did once on the front, but I had been sitting on the side of the road for 20 minutes with my flashers on. I suspect the bulbs got too hot because I turned them off for a while and they worked perfectly fine after that.

@MESO stage 1 tails don't hyper flash, unless you're going in reverse. Since I don't remember the last time I used my turn signal in reverse, I have no issues with it. The bulbs are VLEDs in the kit. It's really not hard to wire in an external resistor. If you go with VLEDs, they have one's that just tap in, pretty straightforward.

Wiring an external resistor defeats the point of low current draw of LED.

Not this LED argument again :deadhorse:

I'm pretty sure most of us who install LEDs in vehicles aren't doing it for their energy efficiency, it's for aesthetics or instant in/off capabilities.

Yeah I like the look and rapid on off I just hate dealing with resistors.

It wasn't worth $50 bulbs or the effort, so I put the incandescent bulbs back in the turn signals, and put the 7443s in my wifes car for her brake lights.

I just thought it was super weird that they flashed fine with the headlights off, but I got hyper-flash with the headlights on.

I second this. I used them before and didn’t have any hyper flash. I actually replaced every single exterior bulb with Lasfit and didn’t have any issues.
