I don't have a clown phobia, but I'd probably pass on that hotel just cause.

I checked out the lobby out of curiosity. I would ABSOLUTELY pass on this place!

Well in all fairness, I've stayed at some shady hotels (only because i needed a cheap place to sleep while on the road).

About 4 or 5 years ago, I took a mini vac to the MS Gulf Coast. I was looking online for decent priced hotels in the area. I found a Knights Inn in Pass Christian. Most of the reviews said it was decent and looked "okay." A handful said it was terrible. So it's was a mixed bag. So I took a chance and booked it anyways. Pass Christian is a fairly nice city on the Coast. Boy, when I say I was shocked when I pulled in, that's an understatement. But I was there, and it was all paid for. The actual room was decent. Just area was shady looking. And some folks staying there probably weren't of the highest caliber. Nothing ever happened, but I'm def never staying there again.

Yeah, funny what we'll do to save a few bucks. I'll sleep in my truck without hesitation if I don't see a suitable alternative.

The Clown Motel is scuzzy for sure, but it's the folks walking around the parking lot and hanging out on the balconies that gave me pause.
I am not judging anybody. But I ain't staying there, either.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
If someone is at the point they are staying at the Clown Motel, they might need to reevaluate their life. Then again if you're dead dog tired and there is nothing for the next 100 miles... Nope, I think I would just take my chances sleeping on the side of the road.

I would have to agree. This looks like something out of a low budget horror film.
Then again I guess you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover. I once stayed at a little hole in the wall motel on the Canada side of Niagara Falls and well there were literally holes in the walls and light fixtures hanging from the walls by their wiring (drywall anchors still attached to the lights). Good times though.
