You can read up on the physics. There are great articles I read a ways back on the topic. Basically ....

Deaver = a lot of thinner leaves

Dakar = less and thicker leaves

The thinner leaves are better for reasons a, b, and c, for the function of a leaf pack.

OT is going around. I'm in the same boat. I'm at 60 something so far, and working a full day over the weekend still.

We were supposed to move to Australia when I was younger and instead went to Texas. It's kinda the same but at least Australia would have been cooler.

    Story time

This reminds me of a time when I was young and stupid. I had just started working on the Docks at McCains piling boxes of french fries onto pallets. later I got to load said pallets onto the trailers. what a mind numbing job!

anyways I was in my early 20's and was just starting to make some decent money but I still lacked some common sense. Instead of buying a proper vehicle to drive back and forth to work the 45 mins each way I went and blew all the money I had saved on an old sport bike. well winter came and I would suit up and drive that back and forth on the good days and if it snowed or was crazy cold I would carpool with one of the guys from work.

One weekend there was a big party that some of my old university buddies were throwing in the city. I looked at the weather and it showed it to be clear and warm the whole weekend. I packed my shit and strapped it all to the bike and off I went. its about a 2 hour drive so not too bad of a drive in the cold. it was just above freezing so it was a good drive other than my sleeping bag coming unstrapped partially. damn thing slid down and landed on my muffler and started melting and caught fire. Car honked at me and I had to pull over and rip it of and then throw snow at the muffler to put the remaining melted bits out.

Made it down to the city without any incidents after that. Had a good weekend which was pretty eventful but that's another story. I spent the weekend having a good time and not watching the weather. well I wake up all hung over sunday morning and need to drive back home and head to work for Night shifts. I got dressed grabbed my shit and went out to my bike and wouldn't ya know it, its snowing! Damn!

I checked the weather and it looked like it was going to continue to snow until the following day so I had zero options at that point. I suited up and off I went. That previous 2 Hr drive took me about 5 hrs I believe. I think I stopped at every coffee shop between the city and my small home town. Had to warm up and let the snow melt off myself. I also couldn't make good time as the road was completely covered in slush and my bike was sliding around all over the place. Had a few people see me at the coffee shops and they thought it was prudent to ask me why i thought it was a good day to go out for a drive cause it was snowing out as if I hadn't noticed all the snow. a few just walked by and told me I was crazy. yup that was a fair assenment.

Made it home with out dieing but I definitely skipped the trips to the city until spring came that year!

Im not sure I could handle the heat in Australia. the wife lived there for a year during university after we had met. Between the heat and humidity I would die. I dont like when it gets above 70 ish freedom units. I start sweating like crazy and getting cranky. pretty sure I'm not built for those hot humid spots.
