hey guys has anyone every heard of randomly losing your rpm gauge, temp gauge, and abs system for no reason?

i was sitting at my dads house and i was sending a text and i saw my rpm and temp just go to zero they stayed like that for a few minutes and then came back but my abs was still gone then after driving it for 20mins back to the house it was back?

I mentioned mice, because its 100% electric issue. I'm guess you got a loose or exposed wire somewhere and its either loosing connection or shorting.

i mainly took the rack off because i havent used it in a couple years so it wasnt needed plus now i have loads of more clearance to get in the garage and also work on the truck inside. i can also just drive right in and i only barely clip the door now with the snorkel!

It's just something I've always kind of used a guideline. "don't make anything permanent on something you don't hold the title to" so now... here we go. New big boy 220 MIG welder will be here in the next few weeks and Truck projects start after the wood trim from the whole house gets moved out of the garage.
Did you actually lose ABS or did the light just indicate that? I'm only asking because I've been learning about the CAN communication architecture and how it interacts with the different controllers and sensors. So unrelated things can make certain weird indicators happen.
It's still not outdated because the 3rd gen isn't really modern... it's kinda a hotwheels space dream.

Honestly, I like that you guys like it. It's just not my steeze. 2.5 gen is that perfect balance between elegant agility and bold rubustness.

We could get into the weeds about my 2.75 gen theory... but I'll just end up making another thread for that too.....:anonymous:

    So...

It's a hunch, but the first clue was the different VSC/TRAC OFF lights and button presses that produce slightly different indicator lights. And I've been researching the CAM communications and my only resource is online and seems legit. However, the service manual is for 2015+, lumping in 2015 with third gens for the entire manual. I think there is some confusion as to what certain VSC modes do in certain years of 2nd gens and there is a difference between 2 and 2.5.

I'm still cross referencing ABS and VSC parts with brake parts across years and model trims, though. But at this point, I'm pretty sure I can trigger the ABS solenoids for independent wheels through the ABS control module via a microcontroller. The manual is pretty specific about how long you can activate each component before it's over taxed, but I'm still investigating what the limit is in the system... Which I realize might not have anything to do with the 2.75 gen thing, but it was my main goal....

Don't judge me. I'm probably wrong about the 2.75 gen thing, but I'm not wrong about the ABS control module. I just need to talk with a Toyota engineer to find out what the signal expectations are.
