And as stated above, Pennsylvania has focused attention to standard issue plates due to COVID and if I applied for a personal plate tomorrow it could be almost August before I get the damn thing!

And the railroad plate cannot be personalized; Go figure it's the only one that can't be!

You’re right. Dammit. Well you didn’t want to wait anyway.
Choose a different special fund plate and personalize?
If it was me I’d get the RR plate, six month wait just makes it sweeter when it arrives. It’s pretty cool and different.

Actually, the RR plate is available immediately; Six month wait on standard issue personalized plates...

    @Hook78

Your home state has had the same plates since the early 1980s; I love the "First in Flight" plates...

    One of my all-time favorites!

I vote for personalized vanity plate. Even though I have a vanity Veteran plate on my truck, I sometimes wished I stayed on a regular plate to 'blend' in with the general public.

You don't want people knowing you're a veteran...?

My dad wants to get the PA Navy Veteran plate for his Yukon...

I have 2 sets of vintage plates to chose from for my '68 Corvette. I can remember someone pointing out to me when I was very young, maybe 5 or 6 years old, the shape of Nebraska embossed in it. Anyhow we have some type of way to register old vehicles for like car shows or parade duty. Very cheap registration that way.
My vote was for your RR plate.20210122_222620.jpg

Very cool; Pennsylvania has a "year of manufacture" law that allows you to put a license plate from a certain year on a vehicle of the same year if the vehicle is 25 years old or older!

Love em too! One of my favorite books growing up was about the Wright brothers. I’ve been to Kitty Hawk a few times.

Now you have a second standard choice in NC, First in Freedom. Which is fine but I prefer the original.

I have an OEF specialty plate; didn’t personalize though. Where I live it gets me a very small degree of leniency on, say, a borderline speeding ticket AND makes it a bit easier to park in one of the veteran spots at Harris Teeter, not that I’ve ever had to prove myself. And really I prefer to park well away and avoid door dings.

I like how the plate looks. Never had a negative outcome from it.

I’ve always been tempted to get a personalized plate that means absolutely nothing. Just to drive people nuts trying to solve it.

    DTSRLR

    For example.

When you renew your driver's license in NC, do you have to take a written road sign test of some sort? I read that you have to take a written test not only if you're transferring an out-of-state license, but also if you're a resident renewing an NC license. In Pennsylvania, there are no tests once you actually have a license...

I like it! However, a personalized plate is almost $30 more than the RR plate, and there is a 6-month wait due to COVID...

So why ask what to do if that’s a deciding factor?

    FWIW, I’d go heritage edition.
