The main difference with the powertrays is the addition of a bus bar (which in theory makes changing up wires simpler) and a fuse block (so that you can wire some things to always have power and not go through the Switch Pros (interior lights, fridge, radio, etc.). I went that route because I have some things I want to have power regardless. So it kinda depends on personal preference and use case.

Hey all. So today I noticed a strange issue. My switchpros would not light up when I started my truck ,acc, morning. None of the switches worked. As if the controller died. Well. Connected my phone using the app and the switches work fine that way. Super weird. The back light on the panel comes on when I turn my headlights in (white wire tapped into the sidemarker light). Once I exit the app same thing. Doesn't work. I checked the connections. They were all fine, no cutting ,fraying or exposing points. Any one have this is before?

I'd love to see pics of where people are installing the RCR-Force-12 button panel. I'd like to put it on the ceiling just forward of the sunroof, but I'm not sure if it will fit.

Small screwdriver pops off the center piece. Then you can depin each individually.

I didn’t have to do this to route mine through the small grommet on the firewall though. The white plastic connector fit fine.

Yeah I got the center popped out, and I pulled out the orange weather seal. Just can't get the pins to release with the paperclip.

I've got a sealed pass through I want to run it through.

Really wish I had the tools and pins to just recrimp one end it the other, this is a lot of cable in going to have to stash somewhere.

Yeah I was / am annoyed by the coil under my dash.

should just need a push on the tab w tiny flat head and pull out from the back? Take a photo first so you can reassemble.

You can get a depinned cable from switch pro. They can also make you one any length you want. It’s only a couple bucks.

my cable got jacked up when it was depinned so I called them up and bought a new cable for $35. I then sent the old one back and they refunded me after they got it since they could. Total cost was the $7 for the return shipping.

What’s an ideal length that the cable should be?

That would depend where you mount the button panel. On my Tacoma it’s at the roof, so I used most of the cable. I think there’s a small loop under the dash if I remember right.

Would you mind pointing me to a photo? I’m curious how you did that.

Also if anyone knows the pins on the unsealed side, I’d love to try re-crimping that part and cutting it short to eliminate the coil. By far the most work was fishing that snake through the firewall grommet.

Here’s where my switch panel is mounted

you can pull out the overhead console. Then I just used the template that was in the instructions and drilled some holes. I laid down a tarp in the interior to catch the bits from drilling.

Bolted right in and haven’t had any issues. It’s also a super convenient location

    Gotcha on the length.
I assumed that you had it at the lower left cubby.

That looks really great up there.
Is it screwed to the headliner?

I’m guessing that you removed the A-pillar to fish the wiring there and how’d it fit around the airbag?

Yeah. I used the backing bar things that came with the switch pro on the back side. There’s metal / plastic in that area so it’s solid

yep. Up the A pillar and across. There’s plenty of space there for multiple sets of wiring. I’ve had the switch pro, plus dash cam, radar detector, mic for head unit and probably something else. I’ve got everything on the back side of the airbag (towards the windshield) so it shouldn’t cause any issue and it’s secured with zip ties

That is a really nice setup.

Without the sunroof it appears that spot would be a trickier install. Might still be worth a closer look though as it would free up some switch spots in the driver cubby.

Pull down the console, I’m sure you can mount it in general the same spot with no issue.

I really like having it at the roof so it doesn’t accidentally get bumped and it’s easy to see

Yeah definitely like what you’ve done. Wish I had considered it sooner. I’ll look at it more closely in the future.
    Well done.

I've seen others retrofit the panel into the sunglass holder, I wouldn't do this myself as I like the sunglass holder but it's an option. From what I've seen on the headliner you should have plenty of room for mounting hardware on the backside. The headliner has isolation pads on it in which create a little bit of dead space for airflow between the headliner and the roof. I'll try to find a picture.

@daveeasa here you go, you can see the foam running between the B pillars on top of the headliner.
