I bought the Colorado on Valentines day 2015. In December 2015, the complete front axle was replaced because the electric power steering would shut off while driving. The magnets in the front axle assembly were defective. GM furnished the complete axle overnight.

Issues with Colorado since day one:
1.) Air conditioning constantly needs adjusting. Always too hot or too cold. Chevrolet says "No trouble found" or "Couldn't replicate issue". A lot of owners have complained about this - a major issue. I believe the fix is a new expansion valve and compressor. GM won't pay for expensive fix so they stonewall. 2.) Major hesitation when accelerator pedal is depressed - truck stumbles and almost stalls. GM keeps remapping the computer with no real fix. 3.) Heated seats are inefficient. They barely get warm after 1/2 hour. GM says they are warmer than when they are off so that is OK. In 2017, they replaced the 4 elements and they now work properly. The new element part number replaces the 2015 part number. The elements can be replaced at the customers expense.
    Annoying Issues:
1.) No radiator cap. it is difficult to drain and flush coolant system. 2.) No transmission dipstick. Difficult to check fluid level. Check out what you have to do to change fluid. 3.) Seat cushion material is separating along stitching.
All-in-all I liked the truck. But after 5 years and 10 months I got rid of it when I drove my wife 30 miles to the doctor and I never got the truck to warm up. I had the temperature set to 77 degrees and both of us were cold, especially our feet. I was fed up. It was time to move on to another vehicle. I researched the newer Colorados and read about all the problems with the 8 speed automatic transmissions. Based on my experience with GM not fixing things, I traded on the 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport. On the first ride home in the Tacoma, I called the wife; "Guess what? I have heat!" When the next generation Colorado and Tacoma come out, I will evaluate them and decide what or if I will purchase.

Oops. Forgot. My wife was 28 miles away in Newburgh, Indiana and locked the Colorado Keys in the truck. She called. I said I'll use the iPhone remote app to unlock it. I tried several times to unlock the truck to no avail. She said she couldn't hear any clicking or anything. I drove the 28 miles to unlock the truck. I used the iPhone - nothing. I used the key fob and the truck responded appropriately. I used the iPhone again - nothing, used it 2 days later - worked.

My father in law is putting 1k a month into his chevy 2500. It gets old real fast.
    Had a similar issue with a friend's f-150, wasn't much better.

Too much to name for this little space
Bought a used 2016 TRD Sport a few years ago, it now has 52k miles starting in 2021. I have not had any issues whatsoever because my clutch pedal creaking which I found out was just how the spring sounds and my e brake cable which I found out was because my shop screwed up the lift I had them install. No other issues, you'll love it!

well I just traded up from a 17 off-road with 104000 miles. Enjoyed the truck had a 2006 Tacoma sport for 10 years before that. Love the Tacoma and never really had any major problems from either truck. I traded up to a Chevy Silverado rally sport v8 5.3. I jus needed more space and more power. Hope I did the right thing. They gave me an excellent price for my 2017 Tacoma. I currently have 2000 miles on my Silverado so far so good. Enjoy
