With that kind of travel the bike would be disappointed if it didn’t make it to the party.

    Congrats! Bedawson.

Ski season out here kinda sucks so I'm already thinking about next summer. Debating taking my first bike trip outside of New England in September/October. I was thinking about spots in Utah, Colorado or possibly Arizona. Anyone have recommendations on those locations or more specific spots? Invest in a travel bag and bring one of my bikes or rent something when I get there? Obviously, I know travel is a touchy subject. If its still not a wise idea when the trip gets closer I intend to change my plans.

Utah has 3 distinct areas. Northern Park City area which is alpine and amazing wooded areas, St George which is technical, and more XC though there are great exceptions. Then theres Moab, which is technical, and tends to have more "enduro" options with vert. That time of year, St George could still be hot but not unbearable. Moab is prime time late sept early october. Park City will be starting to get cold, but still good riding.

Upside of Moab is if you get tired of riding there, Fruita is an hour and a half away.

good to know, my buddy hit St. George in october but I didnt make the trip because of covid. I'm assuming there are a range of trails for different abilities in each area? I consider myself a competent rider and like tech but dont wanna get in over my head on every ride.

Yes. PC is sorta lacking in "gnar" so its a safe bet. Moab and St George both have a wide range of options. Gooseberry Mesa or Guacamole is a must ride in St George and isnt overly technical but enough to challenge riders in a fun obstacle course sense. If you gi ti Moab, go ride "The Whole Enchilada". Its a world famous trail for good reason. Worse case, get a ride to the kokopelli drop and do the bottom half.

There's quite a few TW members in Utah here. We'd all be happy to tag along or ride with you if you come to town.

Same if you come into Colorado. Hell, I'm planning a return trip to Moab so I'm down for that too.

The charger tanks are good enough for 90% of seating. No gas, no electricity, just hand power.
But once in a while, it won’t work. So, personally, for home use I’d go compressor. For on the go, topeak joeblow is great.

A bit surprised to see everyone recommending a compressor, but it makes sense. I'll go that route and try to find one of those 100 dollar specials everyone mentions

Choose wisely. I'm on my 2nd 100psi Harbor Frieght compressor in 5 yrs, usually around 79.00 but if you catch one of their sales it can be had for like 59.00. It works fine in most applications but it will not seat a Fat Tire. I use my Bontrager charger pump for those and it seats a 5" tire with no issues. The gauge claims it goes up to 160 psi and I'm a believer cause when I release the lever shit happens fast man, lol. I'll always have a little compressor for the convenience but they are a little noisy.

Shiiii. Here I thought compressors were better but now I'm doubting myself.

Did you have to get a special adapter to fill presta valves? That park tools inflator adaptor is like 130, more than I was planning on spending for a compressor or floor pump/charger combo.

The compressor would be nice for truck tires though...

I use a couple dollar prestra to Schrader adapter for my truck and home compressors and its always worked without issue.

"Prestaflator" is nice piece for compressors. About 36.00, I need to replace the O ring every couple years cause it loosens up from all the on/off action it goes thru.

Don't get me wrong the little compressors are are nice and handy, mine just won't do a fat tire but standard tires are not a problem.
