I got a 2020 tacoma double cab trd sport, from day like 6 I noticed a vibration when I braked the whole truck shook, i had my dad take it to Toyota to have it looked at and they said nothing was wrong. Fast forward several months the problem progressively got worse, took it to another dealer they ended up finding out that my rear breaks were out of round and over heated and my front disk brakes were warped. Im not a heavy breaker in fact I tend to coast until its necessary to start braking so I'm unsure how the brakes were ever over heated let alone out of round or warped it had 8 miles on it when I got it. Fast forward again a couple weeks since I had all the brakes REPLACED and now I'm noticing a popping noise when I let of the brake peddle coming from the rear brakes.

Can someone please tell me 1 if they have experienced the same problem and 2 can you give me some knowledge of why this might be happening?! please and thank you

Take it back to the dealer. They obviously put something together wrong in the rear brakes.

FYI a shake or anything when you apply the brakes is never normal, sounds more like you need a new dealership to deal with for warranty because they are idiots.

Sounds to me as if the brake fluid is not fully returning (released) back to the reservoir after letting off the brakes.

I would do a complete brake line inspection to check for kinks or line damage. I would then jack-up all four wheel and have an assistant turn each wheel after the brakes are applied\released to make sure they rotate freely after the bakes are released.

Is the truck lifted or stock? Tires?
Most issues are hard to diagnose in person while looking at the vehicle, let alone online with little or no info or even pictures. I therefore recommend a reputable certified shop have a look, as brake warranty maybe consumable (non-warranty) items and other components may or may not be covered under the 3/36k warranty.

    Good luck

I've been fighting with toyota about my 19 offroad for months. they've, resurfaced the drums, changed out my leaf springs, added shims, steering damper and dive shaft. still shakes and they're trying to tell me its normal like i don't know how trucks are supposed to feel. I'm actually on the line with corprate for the 100th time trying to get it fixed correctly.

There were some rear axle shafts with excessive run-out a while back causing issues like this. Replacing drums or rotors (in the case of Tundras) for run-out doesn’t help when the cause is deeper.

If all the brakes were affected, and while that new, I would be looking further up stream, proportioning valve, ABS pump, or something that was causing all the brakes to drag. It's relatively easy to warp a disc, but a lot tougher to knock a drum out of round. As for the popping noise, sounds like one of the return springs may not be properly seated. Pull the drums off and have a good look; very possibly something easy to see.

Had the same problems with my 2019 TRD OR. Always a pulsing and vibration in the brake pedal, especially from higher speeds. Changed discs, drums and pads with no changes. One of the reasons I got rid of it.

took it to a third Toyota dealer and my left rear axle flange was the culprit it was poorly machined and had excessive runout so they replaced it all, just got my truck back today and so far it sounds and feels great no more popping and shaking. thanks for everyones input!

Can you pm me about it. Maybe show the tsbs or whatever they did. My stupid dealer said the tsb doesn't count for my 19 and the axels are different. I know it was a load of crap. Nothings changed on these trucks.
