I kinda don't want to say anything for fear of jinxing it... but..... I have been pain-free most of today. Little sore first thing this morning and still feel the back/nerve pain if I overdo it - stretching/reaching/lifting - BUT I've been able to do everything today mostly pain-free! I cooked, shoveled the driveway, cleaned house a little (mopping was the worst thing so far), I even got crazy and clipped my toenails (that's actually a challenge most days). I tried to rest a little here and there so as to not tire myself out but I think today is in the best top 10 of the last 4 months as far as overall pain/activity. Just hanging out in my recliner right now and I feel totally fine. Really hoping I get a good night's sleep tonight. I'd love to go for a drive...been months, since mid october, that I've been out just to be out.... fingers crossed everybody!

Got in to see Dad tonight. Man he looks much better. Nearly broke my hand squeezing it when he shook my hand! Therapist said he's been doing so much better swallowing that they're updating his diet from thickened liquids(which he hates) and minced foods to now getting foods cut bite-sized and normal liquids. He said his therapy went real good today too! Not having to wear a hospital gown anymore but he is still has to have a catheter.
He's much more fully alert and aware of what has happened to him and what he needs to do to work towards standing, walking, etc. So that's a positive too!

A little of this and a little of that.
    Good morning all.

I've got a friend that's traveling from upstate NY to Florida and he's going to stop in for a visit today. It'll be great seeing him. Socially distanced of course.

Stay safe and out of trouble.

    :oldglory:

I'm a firm believer that you've got to keep moving. All that activity was beneficial. Glad that you're feeling well.

Very glad to see this! Continued good thoughts to you and your Dad.

When I woke up about 5 a.m., it was 18, but 7 with the wind chill. Not getting out of single digits today with the wind chill. I have to decide if I am going to take the little dog for her daily walk. Even with her winter coat, that is cold.

Not much wind here. The windchill is below 0. A dog walk later sounds good after it warms up a bit.

Good morning. 250 pounds of ice melt delivered last night, brings me up to 300 pounds now. Have to move it inside to the garage soon. 4-6 inches of white shit starting at noon today. Home depot. Grocery store. Snow so eggs milk and bread LOL. Shoveled or blown snow every day since last Saturday except for yesterday so think I'm set on staples. Except meat.

What is this Sorcery you speak of?!

Yesterday was 0.0° when I got up. Thought damn that isn't above zero. But isn't below zero. As soon as I thought it went up to 0.5° Hallelujah above zero!

2.8° at 5 when I took Little Shit out this morning. Dad didn't even move. They both need to go again about 6:30-7:00 they can't seem to get it right the first time. Went to get them to go out again and the pup laid on the couch and just looked at me like you have to be kidding me...

    jack on couch cold.jpg

I keep a 4' line on him in the house. When he tries to run away from me after being naughty it is a lot easier than trying to reach down to the ground and run after him at the same time to catch him. I just step on it, gotcha! You Little Shit. I should be careful, soon he will think that is actually his name :anonymous:

glad to head dad's still improving. i'm sure its going to be a long road for him, gotta celebrate every goal he reaches.

its not so much a porblem of breathing - its just that all of the muscles in my legs and back are so tense that i can't stretch or bend much at all. putting on socks and shoes is also a no go most days. shaving my legs too. yesterday i tried to just stand and touch my toes - i can only get down to a point that my fingertips graze my knees so maybe about 60* bend at the hips? yeah...that's all i can do

too much moving has proven to be bad though too. i start to feel good and get carried away then pay the price the next day.
so far so good today. slept OK, little sore now but nothing terrible

somebody in maryland got the pwoerball this week. and it looks like somebody in michigan got the mega last night

    Morning all

I can put my hands flat on the ground without bending my knees.

Yet I almost pass out trying to clip my toenails.

Has your Doctor instructed you on a Home Physical therapy routine such as a stretching program , flexion / extension exercises and core strengthening exercises . I do this 3x's per week for 45 min and I've noticed a huge improvement in my mobility

That's awesome news about your Dad !!

the chiro gave me a couple of stretches to do but not a whole routine. his long term plan for me is to eventually get me handed off to their inhouse PT person and start to work with them more. we haven't quite gotten to that point yet. the regular doc that I saw last month just gave me a generic handout but just about everything on there contradicted what my chiro told me so I ignored it.
