My next door neighbor dropped 23K~ on a system here in the deep Tennessee woods and has been cutting trees down ever since.
I think he's had it 3 years and expects to die before he makes it back LOL.

If though, which it looks, Toyota gets solid state battery tech then that would change their tune on an FC truck. I think HFC is the way to go but solid state, no lithium, batteries were developed faster than most thought they would and with sub 20 min charge times. The EV 70 series tester I posted may have solid state batteries in it. No one knows for sure.

The hydrogen is used to generate electricity. Electric motors require magnets. Thus the need for rare earth metals.

Isn’t it theoretically impossible to get rid of potroleum, I mean everything a fuel cell needs is made of potroleum products and lithium and nickel and then the landfills needed to house all these old battery’s not like this stuff simply biodegrades right away nothing really green about it

I'm sure as the electric technology and battery's get more and more efficient the electricity needed to run them will be less and less. Its only a matter of time.

true but with the average weight of a average overland rig I’m not sure how effecient it would be without a very advanced battery all these mpge vehicles try to be as light as possible and as aerodynamic as possible

For me I am very much looking forward to electric, especially the plug in hybrids. Full electric torque at zero RPM. It is too bad the Jeep 4xe is.....a Jeep. Even then I find it’s promise pretty cool. I think hybrids are a high probability in next gen Tacoma/Tundra. I hope it’s a plug in. 400HP, 10 speed gearbox, 50 miles all electric, might as well ask for 30 MPG as well.

I would think eventually battery weight would be much lighter per amount of power. I know volvo is going heavy into electric cars soon. Will all this push advancements should happen quickly.

Battery tech is progressing quickly. That's the real limit here. Cost, materials, weight, capacity, duty cycles.

I would love a hybrid tacoma option if it didn't inhibit offroad capability and reliability. The power and range increases would be amazing. And if each wheel had a motor, it would be a beast off road.

I’d buy an Electric Tacoma. More torque, more performance and cheaper to own and maintain. No brainer really with the up-and-coming battery/charger technology.

Not to mention actually fill up in the middle of nowhere where some of us like to go. There won’t be a charging station in the middle of the desert/mountains/forest in some tiny town of 20 people. And I can’t carry a 100 mile “booster charge” with me like I can a jerry can. Electric is for city folk close to chargers. Not long range middle of nowhere free BLM site camping across the continent ha.

It's the same thing with wind turbine blades, apparently they don't last forever and are a major PITA to get rid of.

I have a $100 deposit on the Tesla truck and am very interested in the redesign on the 2022(?) Tundra. I bought a 2020 Ford Raptor last summer figuring it might be the last ICE vehicle I’d own, so why not go out with a bang. Sold the Raptor (and 4 other vehicles) for a new job and cross country move and am down to just the Tacoma and my 2000 Expedition (gas guzzler, 11 mpg on stock tires).

I agree with those saying nuclear power is the answer. Wind and Solar are fine, but we need large quantities or power for an EV fleet.
