Question: Has anybody on here actually installed ADS coilovers with the 2.25" kit? Any thoughts on that? Those King wait times are killing me...

 

I have, does that count?

they work fine you just can’t push the front end further forward than 7/8” because the ADS bottom hats will hit the tie rods. You either have to get custom hats made or run the slide rack and then you will have tons of tie rod clearance

What are your thoughts about Fox 8”x 2.5” universal coilovers and your LT kit?

 

You will have to modify the hose for sure, as for the rest maybe @desertjunkie760 knows... ?

 

Thank you for your input. What modifications are you taking about? To make the hose shorter/longer or to change the angle of the hose fittings?

 

The Fox 2.5x8" C/O does need some changes to fit into the JD kit. These will not fit in the standard configuration.

-1" shorter eyelet
-Raised spring retainer
-90* Fitting out of the shock body
-Different hose routing. The standard layout uses a -10 hose that is 18" long with what I believe is a 7/8" hose port on the body cap. The fitting is pretty large for the shock to fit into the coil bucket as JD intended. You may have to go down in hose size to a -8 and a body cap with a smaller port to allow the usage of a smaller hose fitting that will clear the bucket and shorten the hose a couple of inches to allow the resi to fit in the appropriate spot.

This is just off the top of my head so I may have forgotten a thing or two but those are the main changes.

 

Is this detail for the 2.25" over LT? Any body have details of a Fox 2.5 DSC for a stock length JD setup?

 

This if for the JD kit that uses a 2.5x8" shock. I wasn't aware that JD was building a stock length kit? If they did, it would use a different shock.

 

You can't really run an 8" shock with a stock length stuff. There is a thread on here where it lists how to convert 6" shocks to be able to be run with stock length stuff. But you need to run like an OE replacement kit from any one of the manufacturers for the stock length arms.

 

I appreciate you’re response. Sounds like the Fox shocks won’t fit without considerable modifications.
