I looked into psa but unfortunately I don’t think they make many if any ct compliant firearms. I have to save up money and pass some time before I get anything else anyways or my wife will not be happy

Just added a Monstrum 1-4x20 tactical scope to my Ruger AR556. Entry level optics on an entry level rifle. Would love to have a high end rifle but can't bring myself to pay today's prices. I paid $600 for the 556 a couple years go and the Monstrum was $100 including mount. Shot 120 rounds through it today at a 25 yard indoor range and set the scope for that which will get me on paper when I get outdoors and sight it in for 100 yards.
Rifle shot perfect today with no failures.20210123_184113.jpg

When you buy from Gun broker .com do you have to have an established relationship with a licensed local shop first so the gun can be shipped there?

I didnt but the first time I reached out to doublecheck that he was still in business before buying the gun(s). Used the same guy for several purchases and he had a deistributor he worked with and so I bought new from him as well.

definitely use a shop/dealer that you know is still in existence at least. ecommerce gun sites like Gunbroker, PSA, etc., have lists of FFLs "in your area" but these lists are not always up to date. If you win an auction on Gunjoker, first thing to do after paying for it is to notify the FFL to ask them to send their paperwork to the shipper. Some FFLs will not receive gun shipments from individuals, not sure exactly why, probably has to do with if there is something wrong with the gun and it has to be returned.

We didn't do transfers from individuals because while some individuals were good a lot were not. Before we stopped there were a couple of instances of just getting a gun in a box with the return address on the shipping label. No phone number for buyer or seller, no indication of what the gun was or why it had been sent to us, just a gun in a box. If the return address was residential we couldn't do much except put it in the bound book, throw it in the safe, and wait for a phone call. Had one guy call after a week accusing us of trying to steal his gun. When we explained that we literally got a gun in a box with zero info he calmed down a little.

Also had one instance of another shop in our area do a transfer from an individual and the gun turned out to be stolen. We stopped doing transfers from individuals that day. GM decided the small amount of $ we were making on individual transfers wasn't worth the risks.

Also had one come in (can't remember what kind of gun it was but it was WW II era) where we couldn't determine what the serial number was. It had a number but it was on what would likely be considered the upper receiver for that gun (didn't house the FCG) and was very lightly stamped so we weren't certain. I think it took 3-4 days of back and forth with the seller and BATFE to figure that one out. We were nervous about making sure a SN on the lower hadn't been removed.

Must scratch the itch. Heading to the range this morning. Feels like a full metal kinda day. 1 box only for each.

And published in the daily news, Vista Outdoors (Federal) just received the DOJ (FBI) 5 year contract for 5.56 low lead ammunition...... :(

This is a new open ended contract with no quantity specified. Yes this means less ammo directed at the consumer.

Assuming this is a new and additional contract (meaning it adds to their existing contract obligations), it means that they'll have less supply to sell to consumers.

I thought they were doing away with copper-jacketed lead bullets. Whew! Well, them under contract means less ammo for us plebes.
