That little guy was pretty pissed off. Once you have hold of their legs, they can’t really do anything bad to you, if you know what you are doing.

I found (rescued?) a baby Great Horned Owl when I was in the 6th grade. Brought it home to Mom. Mom became it's 'mom'. Awesome bird, afraid of outside but loved to watch thru a window. died at 7 from swallowing a sock of all things.

I have an old photo album and some 8mm films.

 

There's one that lives pretty close by. Guessing some giant evergreens behind my neighbor's house. During the week I'm out of house by 3:45 am. I can sometimes hear it making it's call sounds. But once in awhile I can see it perched on top of their house. It's pretty dark out......so it's just the silhouette. This one is quite large though

Pretty sure it’s jail up here for that too. Can’t capture any bird of prey let alone hold in captivity. Lots get injured here but there’s plenty of wildlife support/rehab places you can take them.

Odd that a GAME WARDEN came by and checked out the owl, even petted it. Game Mom some advice for taking care of it. Didn't arrest anyone or confiscate the owl. Local newspaper came and interviewed Mom, and took pictures. AP picked up they story and it ran in a lot of national papers. Folks sent clippings. I have them in the scrapbook.
