I'm considering replacing my entune system with a Kenwood dmx957 with a maestro rr2. I'm wondering how this would effect the smart key door handles. Currently I have this set thru factory head unit to unlock all doors when I touch my handle. Will an aftermarket have these settings?

Wow amazing how fast this moved down the front page. If this is possible it would be great to see a picture of what vehicle customization settings you can change with aftermarket head units. I know some of this kinda stuff can be changed with techstream but I'm wondering what can be changed with maestro rr or rr2

Your door handle unlock settings can be set via two methods. The kenwood unit with the RR2 should handle it. If not, you can load techstream and handle it through the techstream program.

Thank you so much for your response. I figured the aftermarket Kenwood with maestro would do it but I haven't found any confirmation at all

You should still be able to retain all features of the etune and maybe some more features. I got a Dasaita px6 and was able to get turning guide lines on the back up cam. Plus rear sonar lines.

I've had the Dasaita PX5 and the PX6, while my current unit is the Pioneer WC6600. All three head units retained all the ability to manage the factory settings within the radio. The Dasaita units do so via their proprietary canbus adapter, while the pioneer does so via the Maestro RR.

Good deal. Thanks for the responses! Since you have had both Android and Pioneer head units, which do you like best?

I ran the PX5 for a little over a year. I had no issues with the headunit, but I was also running a Car2Play wireless carplay dongle that had issues every time Apple updated the iOS in my phone. Within a week the maker of the adapter had an updated firmware but I got tired of the constant battle. I bought a PX6 and installed it right before Covid hit. The sound was significantly better, and the wireless Carplay connection was built into the unit vice being a separate dongle.

If you want a computer in your car to use a lot of various apps, the Dasaita PX6 is best. Android based head units are computers with audio functionality added on. This unit is wireless or wired carplay capable. The unit has a digital sound processor and the sound is significantly better than the Entune premium units. These units run hot, and the build quality is questionable for some users. I had no issues with my unit, but many people have. I ran the stock firmware in mine, while many people have moved to 3rd party firmwares which I have no experience with.

If you are an audiophile and your primary goal is a good headunit with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto with high quality sound, buy the WC6600. It is a beautiful screen with fantastic audio. I use the wireless CarPlay, and it auto connects as soon as I start my truck. It has been an awesome audio experience.

Good info here. Thanks for the details.

Any pictures of that pioneer head unit installed? Does it stand out or does it look like it belongs?
