Hey guys so today I received my 2 cable adapters needed to swap my stock 2012 head unit with a 2014 touch screen head unit. After plugging everything into the new head unit I was left with one cable that unfortunately did not plug in no where. At this point I just decided to leave it like that and hope for the best. Seems like everything works out fine besides trying to charge my iPhone which sucks already. I’ve attached a pic of the cable.

I also can’t data transfer my music to the new head unit since the USB port doesn’t seem to work.:pout:

Did you ever solve this? I too have a 2012 and have since upgraded my HU to a 2015 touch screen version. I'd like to use my USB to update my software / add custom images to the background.

The problem is that the 2012 and 2013+ use different methods for USB.

2012 use an interface module over behind the glove box. The factory USB port cable routes over there.

2013+ route the factory usb cable directly into the radio (the grey plug on the back of the new radio)

As long as your new (2014) radio has that grey plug, you can use something like this

Just keep in mind that it’s not going to plug into the exiting USB port. You can route it over to the glove box, or pop out a blank switch panel and route it through there, or find some other place to route it. That might be long enough to reach into the center console (which will require drilling a hole)

That's not a problem with me, thanks for the info again! Really just want to update and add a new background.

Thanks again for the help, I ended up ordering from eBay since it seems all of the sellers exclusively sell this cable from China
