There is a group of three rather fuzzy coyotes that have begun patrolling our neighborhood. I've seen them several times now. The winter fur is nice and I've got an idea they are well fed or they'd be moving along..... Monday they were out back - across the wash - but hanging around and our two mutts were of course going nuts. Too many nearby residentials so the AR has to stay in the lock-up. Grrrrr.

There’s no such thing as a bad day fishing. Heck you could be forced to play golf. Now there’s a waste of several hours. And you’ll never get them back.

I have / had too many coyotes in my area. They den up in the canyon behind my place.

    The solution is simple. Crossbow.

OK, totally off topic (as if we actually have a topic :)), but I thought this was a pretty funny story worth sharing.

The best story of the year doesn't give the proper praise and credit for this painful but understandable story as told by a loving wife.

The priest asked if anyone in the congregation would like to express praise for an answered prayer.

Gena stood and walked to the lectern.

She said, "I have some praise. Two months ago, my husband Frank, had a terrible golf cart accident and his scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the doctors didn't know if they could help him.”

You could hear a muffled gasp from the men in the congregation as they imagined the pain that poor Frank must have experienced.

"Frank was unable to hold me or the grand children," she went on, "and every move caused him terrible pain.” We prayed as the doctors performed a delicate operation, and it turned out they were able to piece together the crushed remnants of Frank's scrotum, and wrap wire around it to hold it in place with metal staples.”

Again, the men in the congregation cringed and squirmed uncomfortably as they imagined the horrible surgery performed on Frank.

"Now," she announced in a quivering voice, "thank the Lord, Frank is out of the hospital and the doctors say that with time, his scrotum should recover completely.”

All the men sighed with unified relief.

The priest rose and tentatively asked if anyone else had something to say.

A man stood up and walked slowly to the podium. He said, "I'm Frank".

The entire congregation held its breath.

"I just want to tell my wife that the word is sternum."

Good morning, everyone!! Not much planned for today - probably watch the football games. I spent most of yesterday feeding logs into the fireplace and reading - been working on Chernow's biography of U.S. Grant. Good read.

    Stay safe and warm!!

    Morning all:
Another belated happy birthday Kurt, and another welcome to Greg.
Haven't watched football all year, now that it's down to the playoffs I get interested and start watching the games.

    Good Morning folks.:hattip:.

The closest that I have come to football this year Carl is 2 squares on a super bowl block poolo_O. The way my luck runs, I will be donating to someone's beer fund. A fellow in the PA thread is looking for 9mm ammo. Unless he's got the money to pay the gougers, he's out of luck. One shop near me will sell you 2 boxes at a reasonable price but...there is always a but. You have to buy a firearm from them...but their shelves are just about empty except for a few guns people don't want:rolleyes:.

Hey all have a great Sunday, rest up for Monday and be safe.

A little something every chance we get.
Morning and thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. On to Route 66 for a year (boy, howdy, I'd like to do that for real!). Fog and drizzle are in abundant supply, so I thinks I will just work on the stubborn door in the garage before the football games. Going to have to fix the solar water system that quit, then I blew the fuse, but that can wait for some sunshine tomorrow. It's been so grey, half the solar yard lights that always work didn't even come on last night.
As they say locally; "Onward, through the fog!"

    Good morning all,

For the past 10 years every leisure trip we would drive the state highways not the interstates. The way we traveled growing up, what a way to see this great country. There is so much more to see and experience, I cannot wait until we get this VID under control, once that is handled we are going on a long road trip to see family and friends - all by highway.

Over the years I have been fortunate to take adventures with good friends. One such adventure back in the early 80's was a bicycle tour with three good friends from Wisconsin out to the west coast then up into BC Canada - down through California then home. Stayed in a motel once a week to do laundry and resupply - camped the rest of the time. We are now at a place where we can do more of these kind of adventures, maybe not a three month bike ride (motorcycle maybe) but never the less slow it down and enjoy what is around us. Just sayin

Have a great Sunday and Go-Pack-Go

Happy what ever day it is or you think it is. It’s suppose to rain today and we need every drop we can get here in parched California. Really need snow in the Sierras.

    Happy birthday Kurt!!!

Ken, ammo is difficult to get all over the country. Not long ago I drove up to the Cabelas in Reno Nevada to stock up my ammo stores. Cabelas always has a huge amount of ammo. Here’s what I found - handgun ammo, none. Shotgun ammo, less than a quarter of what they normally stock. Rifle ammo, all they had was a couple calibers I never even knew existed. There was a long line to buy guns but I didn’t look to see what their inventory of guns looked like. Cheapest trip to cabelas I ever made. This was about 2 months ago, I assume it’s no better. Fortunately I stay well stocked up on ammo, I’d just like some more. I do not see things getting much better for awhile.
So here in California we need rain and ammo. As the Warren Zevon song says - Send lawyers guns and money
The shit has hit the fan (just change lawyers to ammo)

Not much better on the East side.
Guy at work bought a new HK in 9mm and a box of "defensive" ammunition. Over $60 for the boolits so that's north of a dollar a shot...for 9mm.:bananadead:

I have been trying to find a 17 HMR varmint rifle for the Coyote's but everything is back-ordered both rifles and ammo. My 30-06 is too much for the neighborhood and my 22 LR is not enough to drop them.
