It was snowing pretty good last night went I went to bed. Was so excited about having snow to clear in the morning, that I had a difficult time falling asleep. I LOVE winter!! Some glamour shots. Yes, I did pose my tractor.

Snowblower too. Have to keep a clear path to the oil tank. Don't want to upset the delivery driver. I also clear a path around the yard for the dogs. Partly because one of them is a low slung model who would have a hard time in the deep snow. And partly because it gives me an excuse to play with the snowblower.

Keenly aware of the thread title, but if you'll allow, I just picked up a little winter toy to play around with here at the lake.

It's a 1991 Jag 440AFS in great condition. Just needs a new speedometer cable, which is on order, and the electric start doesn't work. When it warms up, I'll do some checking before storing it for the summer. Pretty sure it's the solenoid, and not the starter itself.

I love it too! I struggled with which model to go with. A friend of a friend was selling a low hour L2501 with the backhoe, but I figured it was too heavy a machine to use out in my yard. All the clay makes my lawn soft like a sponge when wet. It was really between a 2601 without the hoe, or the 23S that I ended up buying. My concern was that it wouldn't be the best machine for snow plowing a 700+ foot driveway. And it's probably not, but it works really damn well, and I'm having a helluva lot of fun with it. I've gotten stuck pretty much every time I've plowed. Usually because I'm trying to Puch the bank back too far and end up off the edge of my driveway, which is slightly elevated, causing my front end to drop over the edge. Or like today, going a bit fast into a drift, the cutting edge caught and skated me into the ditch. Haven't had to get the truck yet, or call a neighbor to come pull me out. Four wheel drive, the diff lock, and using the blade lift to get the front wheels off the ground, and the angle to shimmy myself backwards, I've always managed to free myself. It's all part of the fun.

Just watched your ripper vid. I respect the hell out of what you've done with your Cubs. Wish I had that kind of know how and the ability to apply it. I don't know your background, but you'd fit in really well here in the north.

Do you have ballast in the tires? Sounds like you may need some weight. Chicks Tractors dig weight.

Thanks on the Cubs. I spent 7 years as a diesel truck mechanic and 13 years as a semi-trailer wreck rebuild mechanic. Wreck rebuild is where I got my fab abilities as it is pretty much cut and fit everything. Hardly anything is off the shelf and most days of the week you are cutting and welding steel, stainless, or aluminum.

I don't. The dealer told me you're not suppose to run ballast in the 23S's tires. Makes sense with the hoe attached. Suppose they could be loaded for winter, or I could pick up a second set for winter. The issue is more the operator though. I know I'm getting close to the edges, but can't help myself from trying to get the windrow pushed back as far as I can. The box scraper seems to be a pretty good counter weight, and I could hang some more weight on it. I think chains are my best option though. The R4's aren't the best choice for snow traction. I'll have a set of Vee bars for next winter.

I had a 6” forward and 2 4” facing rear on my 2320 and had zero complaints running a rear blower. New machine has a 59” front so the rear light is to be more visible and why not.

Insane jealousy for the snow. We've got nothing right now. Super frustrating to have bare ground at the end of January.

Thank you sir. Still need to play around with float vs downpressure on the rear hitch. Float works better (traction-wise) but I have to switch the linkages manually. I had it set to downpressure in the video.

It’s been such an unusual winter. Way above seasonal temperatures until about a week ago. Very little snow so far, and not much in the forecast over the next couple of weeks. I’m hoping that March brings a couple of big dumps of snow. The lake level was really down last fall. We need a good spring melt and runoff to bring it up. It’s cold out now though. About what I’d expect for this time of year. Got to snow plow, snowblow, and snowmobile. There’s chilli in the slow cooker and beer in the fridge. It’s been a great day!

Hope the snow comes your way soon. Some people might take offence to a statement like that, but I know you’re looking forward to it, so here’s hoping!
