so i can have a gun in my truck on school property, but not "carry" it on campus. i knew this. schools cannot make rules about this b/c its already state law. this is what threw me off. i was under the impression the law was amended, giving the preferance to the schools.

as far as getting defensive about what i call it, i dont understand. my license (which i got this time last year) says "Georgia Firearms License" but on the back it has the law and it includes knives. the whole purpose of it is to allow me to carry a concealed weapon, therefore its a concealed weapons permit to me.

Dude, if I were in your shoes, I would just go talk to the local Sheriff's Dept. Obviously I can't speak for your local cop shop, but where I am, the desk sergeant has a prepared pamphlet listing the applicable local/state/federal gun laws and also translates them so that an average Joe like me can understand them. Can't hurt to ask.

I have been able to carry concealed in Ma. for twenty years and choose not to because I am scared of what I might do if I have a gun at the time. Think about it, Killing someone is a big deal. That said, I would kill someone without a second thought if I or a loved one was in danger. I used to think it was a cool thing to carry but really it's just a pain in the butt. We need to grow up some before doing things like that.

most of the Probate courts(where you get your marriage/gun licenses here in GA) will direct you to this sight http://georgiapacking.org/law.php as its the most comprehensive reading because it cited statute annotation and written in plain english online...but you should never trust the police on the law or me or anything on the internet...that is what your personal lawyer is for.......

yes car carry is legal...people like members of the military state and federal and others can carry to class legally....and the school can not stop them.

as for calling it a CWP you can call it what you wish but its not what it is...all other weapons in GA must be carried openly to be carried legally other than a knife over 5inches or gun...
