The lowest amount you can buy is 4. I've bought quite a bit and spent them all unlocking other ECU's and I still have that 1 extra credit just hanging around. Lol
And yes, 4 credits unlocks the next ECU.

Two add-ons: you can use your Mac, but you’ll need to do it with parallels or bootcamp. VFTuner only works in windows, but it’s possible with the process above. Also, you’ll always have 1 credit ‘remaining’, that credit is for the software itself.

Thanks so much for doing this.. Any intel on slip lock / ways to eliminate would be fantastic.. on my 2020, 3rd cant seem to be removed.

    Best,

Question for all the guys selling tunes - how many people have you had complain about mpg dropping and wanting their money back?

I’ve had three people this week complain their mpg went down (and there is no way they went 500mi or two tanks of gas yet)...I explicitly tell people there is no guarantee on mpg and that is not the point of the tune, yet I’m getting complaints and people wanting refunds (who I went quite far out of my way for and not really wanting to give them a refund AND have to travel to reflash their truck back to stock)...

just curious how other people handle this situation if you’ve come across it?

That sounds pretty weak on their part. Everyone I have tuned has been pretty awesome and super excited about the results just like I was after I flashed my truck the first time, maybe it's just the nature of Colorado folks. I never make any guarantee's but I usually say something along the lines of the premium tune will most likely be better than the 87 tune gas mileage wise (with no guarantees though), but that after I tuned my truck my gas mileage went down cause it was so much more fun to drive. Everyone I have tuned is more concerned about throttle response, shifting, etc so I don't think that's on their short list though it does come up. I had one guy ask for a reflash so far but he is super cool and we are friends now, he just wanted to go to the premium tune cause he did see a dip with 87 (he has a ton of weight) and on the premium he's getting better than he ever had before.

Sounds like another reason for me to learn Japanese outside of wanting to travel there for insanely delicious ramen and good snowboarding. Rosetta stone and torque converter maps here I come. Reminds me of my grandfather- they made him learn German at MIT back in the 40’s cause all the advanced engineering textbooks were in German.

I don't tune but I have had a tune made for me. mpg stayed about the same but I was happy with it. Also, I have the VF software.
For your situation, I would tell them to buy the software and do it themselves if they don't like it. Tell them to travel to you to tweak it.
In the future make it clear that there are no guarantees, promises, or otherwise - caveat emptor.

yeah I made it very clear that mpg is no guarantee either way. I’m probably just going to stop doing them, unless people drive to me. I’m having to travel too much (usually about an hour each way) and taking up time that I could be getting home projects done, as we want to get our house on the market in the spring.

I have the mild 2 wild tune on my 2021 with 265/75/16s and didn’t expect a big hit in gas mileage. However, I’m only getting 15 mpg on average. It’s super disappointing, but I don’t blame the guy that tuned It.

I think setting expectations is important.

I have yet to drive to a customer. Closest thing is I was already in the area for other reasons and it was planned around that. Otherwise, they come to me.

I usually don’t go out of my way unless I’m getting at least a couple trucks at once. That way it’s at least worth my time.

If I end up flashing more trucks then I’m going to have a release of liability form for people to sign which will clearly state no guarantees on anything and no refunds. I’m also going to stop answering questions to people who clearly have no idea what the tune is about or does. Hate to be a dick about it but I’m not going to take a bunch of shit after the fact because they had false expectations and didn’t listen to anything I said and they want their money back which may or may not have already been spent.

@Stormpeacock sent me his release form, and I based mine off of his as well, as it covered a lot. It uses google drive forms. I'll shoot you a PM with a link to mine. You can play around with it, just don't hit submit. Lol

I offer driving to people, personally I love getting around the state. Especially if people are in mountain towns. An excuse to get out of the city and get a breath of fresh air is always nice.

I had people sign a release when it was newer to me but I am so comfortable with the software and results that I haven't been lately. Maybe i'll add that back in.

Lol I go through that and worse.
Some guy emailed me that they bought a tune from someone, wasn't happy, and asked ME to refund them!

    Good morning everyone.

We are preparing a very big update to vF Tuner, our server, and other things this week.

During this time there may be some time when our server is offline (so you wont be able to purchase *new* credits) you'll be able to spend current credits that you have.

Hi all. I'm late to the game on this thread. I had purchased and used the old flash manager -- last tune I flashed was the 1.05 back in October of 19..... I've been mostly happy but decided to re gear the truck and am dropping in 4.88s on Monday because I live in the mountains and despite the tune the truck keeps down shifting horribly on hills. I haven't been paying attention to Matt @ OVTune and see there is a new utility available. My flash manager now also doesn't seem to connect to the old ovtune site to download the 1.05.1 or the 2.0 so I am wondering what my options are. It's been so long since I flashed I forget if there was a gear option... I remember the base, performance and gear lock tunes, but don't recall if there was an option to select the gear ratio yet.... I did send an email to support last week and am waiting to hear back. Any guidance is definitely appreciated!

Mat has pulled the old .p5f files.
He's switched over to the new vForest tuning software. https://www.ovtuned.com/ ß download button is @ middle of page.

    Legacy users can upgrade :

    $79.00 upgrade - https://vftuner.com/products/vforest-tuner-for-tacoma-flash-kit-owners?variant=31765448884311 see note below ….

From Mat 1/23/’21 – “we have a new link. Please email us for it.

I had no choice but to pull it down because so many people were ordering it who weren't previous customers.”

Also some good reading : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-installation-guide-faq.695951/ ß Answers a lot of Questions
    c/o @Shellshock

    I hope this helps !

I have 5.29 gears and 33 inch tires so I do go with 04B04_Reg_Stock_33_5.29.vft or with 04B04_Reg_Stock_Thx_5.29.vft?

I can't find any information on what the "THX" designation means.

Also, how does one gain the ability to change set points to allow a higher alternator voltage for AGM battery charging? I see a lot of talk about what the points should be, but no primer on how to even get to the part of the software that allows you to edit those points.
