Yesterday, I made it to the range to try out my 9MM reloads. As a refresher, I loaded a 124 gr. FMJ bullet over 4.7, 5.0 and 5.3 grains of Unique. I shot the loads through 2 guns - a Gen 4 G19, and a Gen 5 G45. Yes, both guns have the same barrel length.

Distance to target was 15 yards.

The results of my shooting are quite interesting - confusing might be a better term.

The 4.7 load was the best of the bunch - in the G19. It was the worst of the group in the G45.

The 5.0 load was similar with both guns.

The 5.3 load was tighter in the G45 than the G19.

I assembled the loads on a Rockchucker single stage press. I wanted some test data before setting up my Dillon progressive.

All shooting was done 2-handed unsupported - much like I practice. I think next time I will try resting the gun (grip frame) on a sandbag - see if that tightens up the groups.

I think I will set up the progressive, and load a few with 4.9 grains. Seems like a reasonable next step.

Also, I need to shorten my front sight. All my groups were low.

    Thats like parking
Seems reasonable. I like to shoot from rest when sighting in or test-firing.

Love to be able to find some Unique, but I have gobs or Tite-group. Does pretty well in all my guns but is a little dirty.

Friend and coworker is about out of small rifle primers and wanted to buy some from me. I am leaning towards just giving him a thousand and have him replace them when they're back on the shelves.??

I mean nobody knows when they will be back in stock and easily available. Id would be much more inclined to trade him for something (say some beer?) or just sell him them at a fair price.

I mean if it's a friend I've already shot a hell of a lot more of their ammo/gotten more help from them than worrying about selling something for a profit over just them covering my cost of an item

Figured I had a thousand more than I actually did, approximately. I'll still sell him a thousand and tell him $35.00 the price on the box is $29.99 just to include tax, future price increase, and delivery fee.

I just paid 59.00 for 1k srp. Complained about gouging. They said their prices had gone up. I'm thinking not.

That’s still cheep compared to the $300/1000 on gun broker. The bid retailer price has gone up slightly but the little store have double their prices.

40/k on midway and they used to be 34/k for srp. This time last year they were 29/k.

I’m not paying more then .05 cents per primer. Ain’t no way

Ya know I understand (I think) supply and demand and all that but people who do that are just rotten and taking advantage. Obviously. I have enough goodies stashed but I like to replace after shooting. Shoot a thousand, load a thousand. Now I don't shoot so much. Some of it is trickling in and I get what I can. I been waiting for a Ruger Wrangler and when I saw one I was so excited I brought two. Picked up a couple other things and asked about primers not paying attention to the price. Was taken back when I got home and saw the price.

I went to a local small Gun Show here in Salisbury N.C. last weekend. Nobody and I mean Nobody has any idea when spp will be back in stock. There were two vendors that "Had" some that morning, but sold out. They were getting $150.00/1k small pistol primers. Freaking people are asking insane prices these days. I just wanted to pick up a couple thousand to have as back up inventory, but not at those prices.

Wow, all the Lee bashing. I've been using their products for 20 years. Started out with the Lee Anniversary set so I could load some rifle ammo for my 30-06 and 300 savage. Used that for several years, the upgraded to the big Cast Iron single stage lee press. That bad dude is a beast for reloading rifle ammo. Never had any problems with the ammo I loaded, and I always shout sub moa in both calibers. about 4 years ago, I purchased the Classic Turret press for speeding up my pistol ammo reloading. Made a big difference in the amount of pistol ammo I could load in an hour. Biggest PIA for me is bras prepping, cleaning, trimming, cleaning flash hole, blah blah, before I can eve get started on loading. Now I reload for 30-06, 300 savage, 45 acp, 9mm, 380 acp, all using lee carbide dies, and presses. Only thing I use that isn't lee is powder scale.
