I like the 17 HMR but I’m a 22 mag guy. Ballistics they are similar to each other but I’ve been shooting the 22 mag for 40+ years both revolver and rifle and I just really like that caliber. Of course I can’t find 22 mag ammo either. And my favorite deer rifle is a 30-06 (or a 270) , I’m just old school.

Ok, I give up. I started an 80+ year old thread on my birthday last August. To date it has 19 posts, most from myself. I guess I'll join you youngsters here if you don't mind?
I got my first Covid shot last week. No big deal, nothing happened, no sore arm, nothing. I have a full calendar for the week of my second shot, but now I hear I'll likely feel symptoms from that second shot. Gonna have to reschedule my other appointments, priority goes to playing the sicko after the shot! I don't remember having so damn many appointments while I was a working stiff!

Welcome to the porch, Alan! We are 60+ here...and even a few who are still a bit shy of 60. Great group of folks.

And, good morning everyone!! We are scheduled for our first vaccine shot this coming Saturday - assuming supply holds.

    Be safe!

The east coast must have a big advantage over us out here in the hinder lands in getting vaccine distribution. I cannot get scheduled for the vaccine until late March to the end of April at the earliest and I am 66 (67 in two months). OH well, more in house arrest ahead for me - LOL.

Welcome Alan, this is a good group.

Now back to pleasantries - Good Morning Everyone - have a great day

    Morning all:
    Welcome Alan!
I think Ken got it right at 60+, lets the youngsters join in at 60 and still keeps the old timers around in the same thread, it's been a good and interesting thread ever since I first started posting, as Mark stated, great group of folks on here with varied knowledge and interests.

No one really knows how the vaccine is being allocated. It’s all a big mystery.

I still don’t buy med folks going first. But if you make the rules I sure you get preference.

Then again, why are we shipping vaccine overseas before all here ate vaccinated?

    Good Morning folks.:hattip:

Welcome to the porch Alan. I think we have a couple of 80 year old youngsters stopping in from time to time. No age restrictions here. Enjoy the posts.

Trying to get my shot down here in Florida. Most places you have to show proof of residency (can't blame them for taking care of their own) but my neighbor who is down here 5 months out of the year got his through the county. Everytime I've gone on the site it's been booked:rolleyes:. I'll just social distance, and wait till I get home. Deb can't get hers until her doctor does more research on effects with allergies. He told her to wait until we are home as well.

We both know about keeping the old timers around Carl...since we are out of the 60 age range. and to think Jim didn't think there would be but a few of us:rolleyes:.

Was at the beach here yesterday and a lot of folks surf casting for dinner:thumbsup:.

Have a great day folks and stay safe.

One of my nieces is a nurse and has allergies - she just got her first one last week. Her physician determined that the type of vaccine should have no effect with her allergies. They are still fighting a shortage of vaccines here, like everywhere. It's just going to take time for the supply to catch up.

Thanks for the welcome, you young whippersnappers!
I see lots of you are veterans, have you checked with the VA for your Covid vaccines? Check in with your primary care Dr to get on the list. I live only a couple miles from the Livermore VA Clinic, and was called spur of the moment to fill a cancelled appointment slot. They had 5 stations going, no waiting. I was home again within the hour.

I'm on my way to drop my daughter off to get her shot. My DIL has already got hers. She is a RN, but my daughter is a animal nurse. Interesting that my 31 year old daughter can get it while I have to wait. Can't have them doggies & kitties catch the virus.

About 24 minutes South on A1A Art. The area here is South Beach. We will probably get up to the inlet in our travels.

Tell me please this is happening somewhere else besides here.

Our nearby neighbor is suffering from liver failure, which came on during the past year. You know, THAT past year, the one none of us is likely to ever forget. His wife is fracturing under the accumulated stress. It's his second marriage, her third -- she divorced the drunk and carried her second through cancer until his end. Now she has number three to deal with.

Late last week they learned that their neighbors, dear friends, and active helpers, tested positive for COVID. They searched and searched for someplace to be tested themselves, finally found a place, waited in line forever, then had to shove that stick *up their own noses* because the place was not sending people out to do it. (I'm not blaming the place -- qualified medical help is nearly impossible to find here just now.)

There's a day for you, am I right?

So they finally get home, and she sits down to have a glass of wine. Some time later the husband calls our place, concerned that his wife is despondently drinking herself into a coma. My wife was out so I went over. It wasn't all that bad, but neither was it all that good. It's better now.

This thing is wearing people down. It's wearing me down.

It's definitely worth the ride to the inlet, Ken.
I spent many days and nights fishing, shrimping and surfing there! I jumped off the high rise bridge there back in the 60's. They have since blocked access to that!
Were they catching any pompano off the beach? Going to make the trip down from GA to do some surf fishing again soon (I hope).

One fellow caught one keeper and one throw back. Too far to see what the others were doing. There was a young lad about 12 or so and he was having problems with his rig. Not enough weight so the waves were bringing it right back in. Another fellow saw the problem and put a new rig with heavier weight on for the kid. The lad was elated and couldn't thank the fellow enough. Sometimes when everything seems bad, a good person arrives to save the day. Left at noon for lunch so didn't see if he caught any fish. I'll catch up with him next weekend(he's in school during the week). The weather is great. Not real hot yet but very comfortable.
