Is there a thread on wiring your auxiliary lights (bars, spots, etc.)?

Going to wire a scoop light and looking for options. Is there an open spot in the fuse box in the engine compartment for things like this?

Also, what are the best on/off switches to use? I plan on moving the limited slip switch over to the open spot.

I actually did my entire senior (high school) project on this stuff back in 2020.

    Here is what you'll need:

    Hoodscoop light bar
Wire harness (might come with the lightbar so lookout for that)
    • Includes: Fuse
    • Relay
    • Connectors for battery, lightbar, and switch
Aftermarket switch for the dash: switch link

Everything should come prewired except you will have to wire the new switch to replace the switch that came with the wire harness.

send a link to this lightbar and I'll help if I can

On your light bar, where did you hook the positive line? I want the light disabled when vehicle is off.

I mounted the positive wire on the positive terminal of the battery. I wired mine so I can turn the light on/off even when the engine is off.

Fairly easy to do. Your relay power is constant on (I hooked mine directly from battery positive), but the switch power can come from a fuse tap in the cab. Just pick one that powers on and off with ignition.

Can you tap in to the fuse box in the engine compartment? I only want to be able to turn on and off when the truck is running and/or ignition is on.

The wiring under your hood has nothing to do with switched on/off with the truck running. Thats the beauty/point of a relay. If you want it only to turn on with the truck running, wire up your interior low voltage switch from a source that only powers on with ignition (yellow box).

Easiest way to do that is with an 'Add-a-Fuse'.

Yes, except remember to clearance the wires; those damaged conductors (and mis-matched gauges) are just begging for electrical issues!

Where can I plug an Ad-a-fuse? Are there open slots in the cabin fuse box?

If I go ground and the to battery then the switch light will always be on.
