I recommend you install manual hubs at the same time and never need to replace them again; plus less drag=better mpg. Actually less drag is a good things for all civilization

If he installs manual hubs, he'd need to remove his spindles in order to press out his axle hub and wheel bearings just to install the correct axle hub.

Then, he'd have to invest in manual hub cv axles.

Not to mention manual hubs themselves.

He would also have to open up his ADD diff tube to clamp it in the engaged position.

All this to go manual hubs, all while you still haven't eliminated the fact that his cv axles will be at the same angle due to his lift.

Your suggestion is to spend an unnecessary amount of money for no reason.

Had I been condescending or said something offensive, I'd understand the sarcasm...but I just laid out all the things that'd need to get done if the OP switched from ADD to manual hubs.

I like numbers, facts, statistics, etc.

The above post simply lists all the hardware changes required, to meet the suggestion you offered.

The solution that requires the least amount of work, and money, would be the high angle inner CV boots suggested earlier. Those would work best on OEM axles.

But it seems like the OP does not own a set of OEM axles, so he opted to go with the ext travel CV axles that I run myself.

Really, I'd still suggest just going with that high angle CV boot I initially mentioned in the beginning, if you run OEM axles.

I do like that the ext travel CV axles have a lifetime warranty so I can just bring them in for a replacement when needed; I will be putting a high angle CV boot on the extra OEM axle I have though as a trail spare.

PLZ DO NOT GET Aftermarket. I got some for mine and they destroyed my hubs. The clearances weren't perfect it seems. Ended up rebuilding my OEM ones and had to get new hubs, bearings, etc....

What exactly caused your hubs to be destroyed?

Were your manual hubs assembled correctly?

Were your wheel bearings not in need of replacement?

    Lots of information missing.

If I had an issue with something, I'd list what the issues were and how it attributed to the destruction of other said components.

You sure the axle nut was torqued down right? I had the same thing happen to one side but the issue was a cross threaded axle nut. They axle nut torqued in place is what keeps the wheel bearing intact when moving, if it's not torqued to spec or not threaded on right BOOM goes the wheel bearing. Been there done that

I don't have an axle nut on mine. Manual locking hubs have a shim and Snap ring. This was both sides and bearings were fine. The brass bushings in the hub got destroyed so need to replace hub as they are non replaceable. New bearings because to replace hubs you destroy your bearings. I know what you are talking about though

ouch yeah that sucks big time, I would be afraid of cheap aftermarket axles too if that happened to me lol. That's a lot to have to replace

Were your manual hubs assembled correctly? Yup they were.

Were your wheel bearings not in need of replacement? Nope almost brand new

If I had an issue with something, I'd list what the issues were and how it attributed to the destruction of other said components. That's great. Some of us don't have the time but I will indulge you.

Shaft OD with the splines of the aftermarket CV was a bit off so created too much pressure on the bearings inside the hub itself. This caused every time you go forward the axle to try and pull out of the hub as if you were unscrewing it out which created a lot of pressure on the brass bushing on the front of the hub destroying it. Going in reverse did the opposite effect and screwed the CV back in to the hub (yes I know there are no threads it just pushes the cv in to the hub with the rotational motion due to too tight of clearances) and destroyed the inside bushing of the hub.

The only way I figured out this happened was because I noticed my 6 month old aftermarket CV boot on driver side was torn....So decided to see why it wasn't spinning freely. Took the locking hub apart and just brass came out and the CV was not spinning freely. Same thing on both sides.

Took my old CVs and rebuilt them.

    Installed new hubs and bearings.

Smooth as butter. Only difference was that I used OEM CVs. That's why I dont recommend aftermarket CV's....Not to mention they are actually skinnier and weaker.

You can't really Fk up the manual locking hubs install. Like....seriously....put it back the way you took it off. It's pretty much brainless. Definitely was the parts.

It was Carquest Advance Auto CVs if anyone is wondering.

That's the aftermarket garbage I had in there. Believe it or not, the splines were fine. That's just caked up brass in there.

(These are OEM in picture just showing location for reference)
The part circled on the aftermarket CV where it rides on a roller bearing inside the hub was too big by maybe a 1000th or something which caused it to act almost like threads. Creating pressure either on the outside or inside bushing depending on direction of rotation. Destroying the bushings.

Installed the extended travel CV Axle and its working great. Highly recommended if you have a lift. O'Reilly or Autozone did not have them in stock and Import Direct the company that produces them did not know when more would be available. Its possible they may even be discontinued for now. I purchased mine from a third party vendor.
