What is this blanket stuff?!?!?! I want that! This build is looking very similar to what I'm wanting to do, too. Looks fantastic.

on a silver truck, I would agree. plus you get that small blue on the back and would go well with your truck. go with silver but do remember that means the tent I think will be silver and the bare will be black for example.

SP would benefit from a custom configurator / visualizer on their website.

I'm definitely not saying they should take any time away from getting installs taken care of (especially mine!), and higher website development costs don't play well with a startups operating margins, but it would be pretty cool, just sayin...

oh yah that would be cool... That was partially one of the idea for that form was to see who has theirs installed to get some idea on configurations. Not as cool as the page but hopefully give people some real-world examples.

That's the tent panels for the TopperEZLift system. They sold an insulated version for a while which is the quilted stuff.

they still do. I did not have the system but had the panels lining my shell. those things keep the shell nice and warm. I had to remove them it was getting too warm.

Last I saw they stopped offering the insulated tent sides because of COVID lead times - maybe that's since changed. Either way, I've had no problems back there with a nice sleeping bag down to 10-20F.

ah that could def be it. I picked them up last year. I at least saw the insulated sides for the topper still a couple weeks ago but maybe not the extension pieces. In my shell often I did not even use bag or blankets maybe a small one it was toasty. Likely since I had ap latf0orm and all the heat was trapped there but it was warm. so warm I took them off my last trip and somehow they disappeared. damn.

Can someone with a SP camper on a 1st gen Tacoma please post pics? I'm curious what it would look like on an ex cab.

None yet. I'll be the first first gen with the camper. Doublecab though.
@RangeRick is the next first gen we know about. He has long bed.

I really curious if on a 6ft bed Tacoma if you'll get more walking around room in the truck bed or if there will be less tent portion extending over the cab. I'm just guessing the top portions are made all the same length and there will be less over the cab.

I should let someone else comment, but I think this was discussed somewhere in this thread.
There are some 6 foot bed campers out there but I do know they are modifying the designs a little to fit on all gens. Does that change from whats out there rn? Not sure.

From what I remember when I was talking to Spencer at the shop is that the tent portion will be the same size across all truck models.
Lower ‘canopy’ portion will be the part that is modified to fit individual truck models.

The tent dimensions are the same on all truck configurations. The camper shell portion changes depending on bed size.

    none, yet!
Hello all! TW newb here, I've been religiously following this thread for a few months now and figured its time to say hello! Bought my first truck Dec 3rd (2020 DCSB TRD Sport in Metallic Grey) with full intentions of getting a dual shell/tent set up asap. I had originally been eyeing the AT Summit long before even buying the truck, but with their recent price increase I went searching to see what else was out there. Had a great phone call with Spencer and placed my deposit with SP on Dec 18 and had been estimated a June/July install. I'm assuming July and if any earlier will just be icing on the cake for me! I just relocated to Portland for my dream job in the bike industry, but living in the city was not my dream so the adventure truck build was a necessity to escape on weekends.

I've noticed it looks like the majority of you have done suspension work from stock. Since I'm very new to the truck life, would appreciate some/any advice on if the stock suspension is enough for the SP? I'll be mostly going on weekend mountain biking/camping trips and the occasional longer road trips back to Utah to ride the old stomping grounds and trails out there.

Stock suspension will sag a bit. I recommend upgrading leaf springs to a higher duty.

The stock suspension will be fine for a year or so if you don't load the truck up that much, but they will start showing sag. You'll have to adjust your headlights to not blind oncoming traffic when this happens. My 2015 has the ICON 3-leaf progressive add a leaf that started sagging after a month of putting on a competitors camper that weighs the same. You can probably buy yourself time by having an Add-a-leaf installed to your truck to immediately compensate for the extra weight of the X-1.

Did you happen to land a gig at Chris King?
