I just wanted to say that the N2designs remote start kit is the best $200 spent on a Tacoma. It literally took 20 minutes to install and works flawlessly.

Can confirm. Have the smartphone module as well and it works really well. The odd day it doesn't connect on first try, but I close the app and retry and it usually works. Doesn't happen often though.

Good for these cold Alberta days up here in the North.

Unfortunately yes but it looks like there is no way around it.

Mine does not. I have an SR5 with the H-key. Engine shuts off only after being on for 15 minutes.

When I open the door, I put the key in and hit the brake and control switches over.

i believe for button start it shuts off when you open the door.

Yes, anything with a physical key will not. The door shutoff is from Toyota as their safety measure for push button start vehicles. Not the best in my opinion, but at least you know your truck is safe.

cool. it’s been the only reason why I haven’t gotten the kit yet. but now that I know it doesn’t turn off, it’s back on my list!

I love mine. I got the N2 remote start w/o the phone module. Just press lock 3 times on the fob. Great for extreme weather conditions.

Yep. Unfortunately that's a Toyota programming and there's no way around it. Manual transmission vehicles also have a physical key and N2 makes a remote start for those as well.

I agree, I am very happy I installed it on my truck. Makes it really nice on a very cold or very hot day.

I feel safer with open door shut off. No worry about an intruder or watching someone driving away with your vehicle when warming up in cold weather.

There are better solutions. With the key, if you hit the brake and try to shift it will shut off. With RAM, it has to detect the fob and you have to hit the brake (or maybe power button too) for it to go anywhere. But at least Toyota is concerned about safety. It's slightly annoying, but it's good peace of mind.
