New Here...Need some buying advise silverado-Tacoma

Carvana $31,100 so $32,000 is not a bad trade plus the tax savings $34560 total .... Still leaning toward the Tacoma be 5 years newer full warranty mine is out in a month

 

As much of a good argument as is the other side of the coin. Either way, you'll have wheels.

Basically I hear you saying you will pay US$10K for an extended 5 year warranty, which is merely another way to look at it.

Life rolls on in any truck. Best on the new deal.

 

CBR you are funny. Not just warranty value in 5 years on my chevy being 10 years old will be quite low and I will have things break I am sure. I am tying to justify my purchase. I think it seems like a very fair deal and it may be a good time before that gap gets larger on a new truck. Thanks for all opinions apprciate the input does help me decide.

 

Agreed. I took mine to Liberty a few times and it was hit and miss. Autonation on Arapahoe wasn’t the best either. So far, I’ve had the best luck out of Stevenson West.

By far though, the best dealers I have been to has been Toyota of Boerne (TX) and Michael’s Toyota of Bellevue (WA) (@TheToyotaGarage). I know those aren’t CO but they definitely set the standard for which all other Toyota dealers are judged in my book. Lol

 

I agree, I've had very good luck with various Toyota dealerships in both Texas and Florida. Perhaps it has something to do with the increase in competition between the other automakers in these areas?

The Toyota dealer here has a large multi-room waiting area with free wifi, phone chargers, tables, drinks, food, etc. About a week ago I took my Taco in to get some windshield chips fixed. I didn't call in or have an appointment, but they were able to get the glass company to drive to the dealer and fix them in less than 30 minutes. They even asked if I would like to wait or needed to be shuttled to work. Coming from the Ford dealer down the road, I was very impressed.

Liberty made me pay for my own rental on a warranty repair and said they had to keep the truck for three days (instrument cluster).

whereas @TheToyotaGarage gave me a 4Runner for a loaner when I dropped my stuff off.

 

Not a Silverado, but I have an F-150. They both have their pros and cons. The F-150 is more comfortable, has more options, much more power, similar gas mileage, and more towing/hauling capability. The Tacoma is cheaper (much cheaper than my Lariat, but actually about the same final price as my XLT), almost definitely has better reliability and build quality, and is easier to daily drive (the F-150 is unnecessarily large).

What I'd really like is a modern truck similar in size to the 1st gen Tundra.

 

I don't believe the OP will be disappointed in the amenities since he stated he's working a deal on a loaded TRD Sport 4x4 as they are WELL-Equipped and very comfortable.

 

Not nearly as well equipped as the Tacoma competitors. Toyota sells its brand over equipment that has basically been considered “standard” industry-wide.

 

Compare it against the colorado.

The Tacoma got roasted in the reviews on drivability. Personally I think its because the magazine reviewers all want their cars to handle like a Nissan Rogue. The Tacoma doesnt do that. It's trucky. It drives how it looks, jerky and rough and a hell of a lot of feedback on the wheel. And thats exactly why I bought it over the others. Because unlike the Colorado, it doesnt drive like your mom's minivan.

 

Dude, 6 speed autos are almost old-school now. Everyone BUT Toyota has moved on.

 

Just saying, I drove my TRD Sport with premium and tech packages 540 miles one day last week and was very comfortable and didn't want for anything. Nicely and adequately appointed IMO, especially for a truck.

 

Maybe they are waiting on some sort of beefed-up CVT to replace ALL of the autos. That would be pretty cool for towing; no hunting gears, always in the power band/efficiency, etc. Could be game-changing, and I could totally see them putting it in the Taco since its a light duty truck.

 

I agree in the comfortability aspect. I have 70k on a 3 year old truck. My job requires travel.
I was merely making the point that Toyota will never be at the cusp (or even near the lead for that matter) of the technological advancement spectrum...unless you drive a Prius or Miraj. Lol

 

I totally agree! Tacoma isn't and never will be at the top of their class in technological advancement because that's has never been Toyota's (or even many Tacoma owner's) focus for the Tacoma.
But on the other hand if anyone wants comfort and amenities and wants to pay it's available to a decent degree. It's certainly not like high-optioned TRD and Limited models are stripped down trucks by any means.

 

Dude, I agree, my company truck has a 10 speed,,, has for 3 years, but there's still the masses that compare the way shit is, to the way it was, just the world we live in. The good news is; said people can simply manually select a lower gear(omitting OD gears) and go back to enjoying buzzing down the highway at 3k RPMs.

 

The truck is a TRD sport premium with tech...has more options that the ZR2 ...2 big ones for me are moon roof and power slider...not available on the ZR2.. My LTZ is loaded every option but not sure i need all that dont use most of the options honestly.... I will drive it again to be sure...I feel the deal is very fair

 

I don’t think so, not if we compare apples to apples which in our case means to compare higher end Silverado (LTZ) vs higher end TOYOTA TRD OR truck, the trd is lacking.

 

I dunno, my 2021 TRD Offroad is a much more comfortable ride than our 2015 Camry SE, both suspension and seat wise.
