Its been pretty warm this winter, so far at least. This time last year it was -50F.

I would take the 3*....but I hear ya. Lots of global warming evidence all around this year. Sucks. I hate temps above 60...and that is what we get down here for 80% of the year...it was not like that in the 70's and early 80's....

    Question for you all!

I currently have the stock rims/tires for my 2020 SR and I am reallllyyy wanting to upgrade for a more aggressive look.

Recently found a fellow Tacoma owner on FB marketplace selling his 2018 TRD off road OEM rims (the cog design) with the Wrangler Kevlar tires that he has replaced and have ~5K miles on them. Also comes with a new spare Kevlar as well - asking $800 for everything.

Would this be worth it? I am currently leasing and planning to buy at the end of lease. Once I do I plan to lift, so I don’t want to spend too much for “temporary” rims/tires.

    Thanks!

    nah.

asking too much, imo... i got my set a few years ago for half that price, and that was with tpms. they’re even more common now then they were back then (since 3rd gens have been out now for 5+ years), so i see no reason to pay that much for some takeoffs.

where i live, those wheels have totally flooded the second-hand market... there’s always 4+ sets for sale any given day. i say keep looking for a better deal, ~500 is decent, 600 if you’re spendy and want them soon.

ps - you’ll need new lug nuts for the alloys if you didn’t know already. good luck.

I have an sr also and took me a while to find nice wheels and tires I like that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I eventually found a set of five fj cruiser alloy wheels for less than $300 and bought five new toyo at3 tires. The guy I bought the wheels from took them off and had stored them for a long time.94D36767-6098-491F-84E8-A95CE19D97E9.jpg

aFe exhaust showed up on Saturday. Got it on there Sunday. It sat nice and level when we got it on there; but just a bit too low for my liking.

    Raised the tip higher.

In conclusion, I like it. It's about as deep and throaty as you could ask for with a four-banger. The engine seems to wind up a lot faster. The only downside is I can no longer hear my intake.

I bought my SR plain Jane, fixed her up and couldn't be happier. 2 inch front level, Ko2s, step rails, bull bar, bug shield, window tint, pro grill, letter inserts on tailgate, Weather Tech floor mats and chrome tail pipe.20201206_130200.jpg Screenshot_20210117-181216_Gallery.jpg 20210115_210235.jpg

$800 seems about fair. Good deal if they come with TPMS sensors. Gotta realize Goodyear wranglers will normally run about $750 before installation, you’re basically getting like $300 worth of wheels for “free”. Stock wheels aren’t really worth too much. Definitely not as much as what Toyota charges for each OE replacement. At $800 you’re basically paying $200/wheel

depending on how much lift you may need to run a different offset/tire size in which the stock off-road wheels cannot really accommodate.

I actually just installed the same exhaust, I love it, but I also noticed how low the tip sat too, have yet to fix it

After I purchased Off Road wheels and tires ($600, tires had 9K on them) from someone who was going even bigger, I was surprised about all the interest I received when I put my stock SR tires and rims with eBay black skins, (with 11K on them) up for sale. The interest was from owners of older high mileage Tacomas.

Quick question for all you sr people. Wife has a 2019 sr double cab. I got a good deal on a set of 265 75 16 e rated dura tracs. She knows they are rough, had them on a gen 2. Will the factory sr rims with 30 mm off set cause rubbing problems with these tires and stock suspension. Thanks in advance.
