They smell really bad. Then the whole house would smell like rubber. And they take up some space. It's 40 pounds, so doable, but the bolt mod works good.

We are talking about people who would steal anything. They would steal the mat and any bags of that you had in the back.

That is something I would be concerned with. They will give tickets for not having large items strapped down, but that would be officer discretion and maybe if you did the bolt mod and then said you had it secured you could get out of it. That is why it should come with the bolt with the mat.

No. I used a hex socket button bolt and then you need the other person under the truck. So maybe you can get the bolt out, but it would slow you down. And they are for sale all over online so people are stealing them. Like that many people are buying a new bed mat and then deciding they didn't want it?

Thieves Suck! I hate you cant have anything nice without it being under heavy Lock & Key!! My only suggestion is a pricey one,Sorry. I'd get a tonneau Cover, Not totally buglar proof, but out of sight... , Its the 2nd thing I bought for my tacoma. Plus it saves a little gas too, and I can use the bed for a little lightly guarded storage :) keeps the thieves noses out of my stuff! they're secured if you have a locking tail gate. they're a good invest for your truck, and they look good too! sorry dont have any other/cheaper/better advice. may be try Industrial strength/ dual lock Velcro, its super strong and would be easy to install, and tougher to just "lift off!" I use it on my Guitar pedalboard. Its strong & durable Tough, its actually kinda hard to unstick once it locks! Not a great solution but a deterant! offers some resistance, Against thievery! But Someone broke my window just to steal a football in the back seat! So Nothing is Totally safe! GL

It would be so worth hanging out with a crackhead for a day just so I could watch them try to fence a bag of chicken shit to his dealer. Anybody who can walk away from that with cash in hand could make a solid career selling cars.

Aye so heres the problem. I ALREADY got the fine. When my 5 yr old kid flew out of the back speeding down the highway last month nothing happened when the cops showed up other than taking my child from me. That really didn’t cost anything, I actually saved money. I also lost my recovery boards and a contractor bag filled with packing peanuts in the mishap. What a disaster! Thankfully the bag didn’t open up.

The bed mat fine however was messed up because I was parked in a handicap spot at Cost Cutters and there wasn’t a fine for that, only the unsecured mat! Wtf!

Yeah. I want to get one of those nice metal covers, but they are like $2000 and then kind of limit what you can carry in the bed.

Dude you really need to end this. Every truck that I have had for the past 40 years has had a bed mat. Close to 750,000 miles driven with unsecured bed mats. Never lost one and never had one stolen.
You can say what you want but it will not blow out even in a hurricane. Just stop with the disinformation because some noob might think you a a good source of info when the opposite is true.

Someone here said the car washes blow the mats out. And I see new ones for sale lightly used, so I figure some of them are stolen. My last bed liner was formed to the bed and could not just blow out. And this bed mat just sit there and can be walked away with in 2 seconds. I don't want something I paid $100 for to just get taken.

Car washes don't blow them out.
You figured wrong if think the used ones are stolen and resold. People get them and sell the truck or get a berliner or a bed rug and sell their mat for next to nothing.
Lastly bed mats are heavy and awkward and, even though you apparently think they are expensive, they are not.
It's much easier to steal about a million other things than a bed mat.
Do me a favor... go unbolt your bed mat, shut your tailgate and try to go and get your bed mat out and scurry away before someone sees you.
Let me know if you can do it in two seconds.
And even worse, if you are a farmer and it gets stolen just go get an old stall mat for free and cut to fit.

Someone else here said the car wash blowers blow them out. I picked mine up from the dealer and installed it myself. It came in a roll and I walked through a large parking lot with it rolled up on my shoulder and it was easy. It's like 40 pounds or less. I could have walked a few miles with it. The same people you say are not stealing $100 mats are stealing catalytic converters and getting $50 for them and they need to crawl up under the truck and cut it off. So at least with my bolt mod I know my mat won't just go walking.

This thread got some mileage. I can’t believe 21 pages over bed mat theft.

LMFAO. Thanks for all the laughs.
