I’m wanting to relocate my traction(or vsc?) switch from my overhead console to center console. I have the female connector part number but I can’t find/figure out the male connector. I do not want to splice wires

I know there’s always talk about relocating switches and hoping someone has already done so and has the male pt# available, thanks for any help?

I’m guessing there is no mating connector for this switch?

that starts to get beyond my comfort with just the ground and a jumper for illumination; would much rather have all the wires associated for the switch routed, Even if it’s perhaps making a harness at its origin/beginning would be doable if there is 2 mating connectors.

So I’m guessing the first pic (connectors in a pillar) terminal 10 is the ground you mentioned for the switch? And the 2nd pic under the dash 19 is the origin of said ground? Anyway to know/identify which terminals in IA1 the other 3 wires for that specific switch. I don’t imagine the same 4 from the switch travel to the same IA5 in the dash.

Nope, that would be the power side.
    IA5 #19 is also power.

The mating connector for that 10P is designed to be mounted on a panel or a circuit board. It’s a header. I could build you an extension but it wouldn’t look like a traditional extension harness as the header pins would need to be capped. As Caribe said, though... you only need 1 ground wire and a breakout harness for illumination.

Do you have an example of the header pins and capping that would need to be done? I’m trying to picture in my head. I’m definitely more curious/interested in this than the 1 ground wire and illumination tap.

    It's not pretty.

Your 10P female goes in from the right of the image and clicks in. You then have exposed pins on the left. You can get cute and attach contacts to stranded wire and place them on the pins. Or just solder the stranded wire directly to it (preferred method). From there you get quality shrink tubing and insulate over all of the exposed joints.

I see now, thanks. When you say you could attach contacts to wire ends and place on the pin do you mean contacts as in terminals (name might be wrong) that would normally be inserted into a freehanging connector?
    Something like this…
    image.jpg

Is this something you’d be willing to provide just the needed components (header connector with the needed sockets for pins *Feeling cute*) or provide pt#s?

I have the pt# for the female connector (except I’m not positive on the sockets for this but suspect it’s on the second pic of 1st post). I have 20g txl colored wire I’d like to use and plenty of heatshrink. Even have the flexible pvc? sleeve I’d like to use. I’d really like to build it myself if I can buy the needed parts from you

The header connector is basically the black portion above the blue?

Yeah that's what I mean by header. Is that the one for the connector you're after?

So in my research I'm about 90% sure it's just a 10P TE AMP 025 series. For the contacts I believe the right part number is 1123343-1. I can't see the p/n on your baggie. There's another female contact out there that's smaller and might work better: 1674311-1. For the matching header, again I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure, it's 936166-2. Check all of the datasheets and take measurements of your OE connector. Here's a drawing of the TE AMP 025 10-P female: https://www.te.com/commerce/Documen...Lang=English&PartCntxt=936163-2&DocFormat=pdf

Yes that’s the back of the traction (or vsc) switch in the overhead console.

I did a google search on that header, found some but not any for sale (unless special order/bulk). What would it take for you to source the needed parts- header/female connector/sockets/pins? I’m good with a reasonable markup plus shipping etc

I can pull the console off again and take some more pictures but I only have a cheap hf caliper

oh and the pt# on the baggie was just as reference, not specifically for that connector

I ended up making this for @baldbeardedtaco but never heard back. It was purely experimental so no promises on follow-up. Any update on how it went? I remember we had to order the terminals for the VSC OFF connector from Japan.

My dad died on Father’s Day and I’ve been in this funk

I hwve the harness in the short list box so I’ll reach out when I’m ready, just to confirm everything before buttoning it up

Damn that's NOT the update we want to hear. So sorry for your loss. Take your time and let me know if you need anything.
